Loved the dominican girl even though she didn't get a medal I'm sure with time she could potentially win. The Japanese girl looked really strong and made it look so easy.

The girl with the bad elbow should have stepped down after the incident but I think she really wanted to try and see if she could get through the snatch round but when she couldn't lift the bar in the second attempt everyone knew she was out.

There was another girl who was really nervous and bombed out in the first part. Felt sorry for her especially when the commentator was saying that she‘s lifted a lot heavier in other competitions.
Both japanese girls had amazing technique, as well as the chinese girl! Really solid. Dominican girl has a ton of potential. Thai girl's elbow was a total goner. Really ****ing stupid for her to even attempt that 3rd lift. Thing that really struck me most, was the HUGE variance in lifts. Lowest opening snatch was 55kg, and the highest snatch was 91kg! That's nuts!

So SO SO excited for the women's 53, I'm in love with Julia Rohde <3

I know it was stupid for her to try the 3rd time but when its the Olympics I'm sure we would all be tempted to try again even though its a very stupid thing to do

Excited for the 58kg and Zoe Smith. She's probs got no hope but i like her since the documentary on her the other day.

She came across as awesome and she has a cool blog where she rips into guys that call her too muscly etc...

At least calling her "too muscly" is a matter of opinion, but I always find it hilarious when people randomly "accuse" others of being gay/lesbian, based on something they do, in this case weightlifting....like horseback riding, dancing or volleyball or any other random sport is more likely to make a woman like men, lulz

Totally unrelated, but I never really thought that she had an amazing body, but was pretty jelly of her and the other girls, when they showed them in their bikinis in the doc haha. Singlets clearly aren't as flattering as bikinis.

Also totally unrelated, but felt annoyed at work this morning, when we had to move around some heavy stuff, and one of the guys (night-shift security guard, all my co-workers already know that I'm pretty strong) said something like "darling, that's too heavy for you". ugh.

I REALLY wish Wang Mingjuan had gone for a new world record... she had already got the gold medal in the bag, no harm in trying to break a WR

er is she? looking at IWF's final entry list, she's in A

Also, compare 58kg and 63kg category... there's loads of entrants in 58, not many in 63 at all! I remember Zoe saying something about all the 63s cutting weight to make it into the 58s.. looks like she was right! HA

I was quite impressed with the young Dominican girl. Felt sorry for the Thai girl who dislocated her elbow. I hope the next few events are a little more competitive though, the Chinese woman, as good as she was, wasn't pushed at all and walked it really.

Agreed. Even me who just watched Olympic weightlifting for the first time was thinking that the weights were a bit easy

Grr so annoyed! Eurosport said they were broadcasting all the women's events live but when we turned on the tv to watch it, it was gymnastics! I love gymnastics but not when I'm expecting weightlifting

Julia Rohde is so pretty! I think my bf has a bit if a thing for her as well lolol.

Yeah singlets are pretty unflattering, especially when you wear a tight belt so even people with a low bf percentage have overspill lol. Zoe seems to have a good head for competition. Want to read her blog now.

That Spanish (I think) Oly lifter who winked at the camera in one of the vids was pretty damn hot (or maybe I imagine her differently).

I think you mean Lidia Valentin? She's awesome. Don't think she stands a chance to win a medal though

it's easy to say that when you haven't competed... especially in the snatch, technique can stay perfect right until you go a kg too heavy. They make it look easy cos their technique is so rock solid

Also most lifts look easier watching them than actually doing them.
