Where abouts are you applying, and what do you intend to do with your degree?

:ahee: I tried to rep your post but I've reached my limit

Some more: :p:

There are three kinds of accountants in the world. Those who can count and those who can't.

Laws of Accounting 1. Trial balances don’t 2. Bank reconciliations never do 3. Working Capital does not 4. Return on Investments never will.

What do accountants suffer from that ordinary people don't? Depreciation.

What do you call an accountant without a spreadsheet? Lost.

 Good stuff guys. Didnt get the second one though...

Hi I'm Ali

I'm a full time retail manager studying with the Open University. I'm studying towards a maths degree but am taking a few accounting modules at the moment as I want to move into a different role within the company I work for.

Yes, obviously accounting, but do you want to go chartered? Specialise in auditing, taxation? There's more to accounting than making income statments.
As for jokes, here's one. It's lengthy(ish) and wordy though.

A man decides he needs someone to do all his figures for him, so he starts recruiting. He finalises his shortlist to three men, and interviews them one by one.

First of all was a mathematician. The man said "What is 2 + 2?" and the mathematician answered "4". The man said "Very good" and moved on.

Second was an engineer. The man said "What is 2 + 2?" and the engineer thought for a bit and said "Something between 3.9999 and 4.0001." The man said "Very good" and moved on.

Finally was an accountant. The man said "What is 2 + 2?" and the accountant leant in towards him and said, in a low voice...

"What do you want it to be?"

The accountant was hired.

I'm a first year at Queens Belfast studying Economics & Accounting! It's supposedly joint honours but when you actually look at the modules its more 2/3 accounting 1/3 economics than half and half. Just so we get maximum exemptions. And I have a 7th module this year for the same reason.
I'm loving the course so far! Who ever said accounting was boring! Law module is killing me though!

I always hated law and management modules. I understand why we need to do them, but I hate not doing something related to my degree.

I dont actually have many management modules, most have been replaced with econ which is nice....suppose I'm one of those pesky "economists" LOL I wish they weren't necessary. Imagine how immense your degree would be without!

Nooooooooooo! Don't do modules just because you'll get exemptions, do modules that you'll like and do well in (better class degree is more valuable than a single exemption).

And if that's how your choosing your modules, don't be so surprised that it is more accounting than economics :p:
Also, I loved my Law modules, I got my best grades in them :p: My course mates all said I should quit accounting and be a lawyer :p:

We don't have a choice this year for our modules. lol It's basically just designed that way and you can't really make it 50:50. We get to choose one module in 2nd and one module in 3rd and I'm planning on econ modules so far!:redface:
