Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?
Hi All
I had an Asda magic Event today and got this email after that.
Thanks very much for attending our recent Asda Magic assessment centre and interview to join our team here at Asda. We were very impressed with your skills and attitude and the great news is that we’d really like to offer you a position.
The not so great news is that unfortunately at the moment we don’t have any vacancies available that match your skills and requirements.
All is not lost though – and we hope you’ll bear with us. For the next 6 months, we will keep your details on our system and as soon as a suitable position comes up we’ll contact you directly to discuss it. As you have already attended a Magic assessment centre and been through the interview process, you won’t need to go through this again, we’ll just invite you into the store for a quick chat about the role. Rest assured you’re right at the front of the queue when a new vacancy does come up.
We’re sorry that we haven’t got something for you straight away. Thank you for your interest in Asda – we do hope to speak with you soon. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us on XXXXXXXXXXXX.
Please help me to understand this.
Am I successful?
Is there is any chance they will contact me for future roles?
Please explain a bit as I will be thankful. -

Hello, I work for ASDA and have done so for a year, have worked on ALOT of departments and am trained on ALOT of different things (I'm a bit of an ASDA whore, but I need the money, so I like to do alot!)
If you have ANY questions about applying, the application or the interviewing process, even the working and the way to use a till (if your desperate to know :P ) just ask!
Hello! Its very kind of you to offer your advice for those in need
I would like to aks you if asdas shifts and hours are flexible (like mcdonalds) ? Or fixed like a contract? I applied to one asda home shopping centre which is a 28 hour vacancy, but say if i got the job would I be able to do 28 hours for one week and then reduce it to 24 or 20 the next week etc? And does the rota change every week aswell? Its for a shop floor assistant vacancy.
Thanks

hi
and can I ask aswell, how easy is it for me to get the job at asda as shop floor assistant? (I work at Primark and McDonalds atm). I have been invited for the Asda Magic sessions. Roughly how many people that come to the sessions get asked to come back for a one to one interview? Is it fairly easy like McDonalds, or very tough and competitive like getting a job in Boots?
thanks again,

Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?I completely agree with you,the same thing happened to me and they rejected my application before applying...i was so angry but I don't think there is any solution for it.....(Original post by tosh999)
was applying to asda online, however when I click do to assessments all it says is pending assessment and has the close button? So how do I do the online assessment?
I went in store to ask for an app but they said its all online, fair enough I guess.
I cannot seem to find a contact number for asda that handles recruitment, as clearly there is some sort of technical error that I cannot access the assessment

Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?
With my application, I couldn't find how to do pending assessments as there weren't any showing so I just presumed I was unsuccessful but couple of days later, I was invited for an ASDA Magic session. Right now I'm doing the induction which for my store is 4 days of boring as hell stuff (last day tomorrow), but at least it's paid.

Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?1. very easy I have a 5.5 hour sunday contract I average 30 hours a week (all I want )(Original post by Deano-101)
Two Questions -
1.) If you are hired for a part time position i.e. 19 hours per week, is there anyway to get more hours?
2.) How easy is it to climb up the Asda ladder? And what time frame?
2. not sure about time frame but id say about 4 years if they really like you you could be a manger , my friend became section leader after a year and Ive been offered a section leader with management within a year ( I went to uni instead) but they really like me. but above dept manger it gets difficult you can work your way up to trading manger (below gsm) -
Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?I was taken on as a temp for 12 weeks over the summer starting around the 20th June. I applied late May, and it took about 2 weeks before hearing anything. I had almost given up and was applying to many other places before getting in. Give it time because even with temps they take time to process you in the same way as permanent.(Original post by jj11)
Hi all. I applied for a sales floor job at ASDA. Can someone tell me how long it takes for them to reply for a temporary job? Do they reply within a few days or after the application deadline?
Also, Asda is one of those jobs that many apply for and only a few get interviewed. My advice would be to check every day online for jobs as my head of personal said they interviewed the first 12 suitable applicants and that was it even though they were about 200 applicants. I class myself quite lucky for getting in when i did.

Re: Working for ASDA, any questions? Thanks for the reply. I've been applying to places. I applied for Next for about 10 jobs, but I haven't heard back from them - it's been around 2/3 weeks now. I gave up and applied for Boots and got rejected. I applied for Asda and still waiting. I got experience in working in retail, but still getting rejection. I guess I go to keep applying.(Original post by grabattack)
