Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?Well apparently the manager of my department has already told one of the other temps he's gonna try and keep us all on as Permanents if he can, there's only 3 of us so it gives us a good chance.(Original post by emily27x)
It honestly depends on the size of the store, and the number of staff they have/need, how much money they are trying to save, etc! It honestly depends on a lot of circumstances. But a lot of people have told me that the period ended and they heard nothing, and a few weeks later, they were called back to be permanent
.
All of Asda's contracts are actually now temp for the first 12 weeks, and you only ever get the permanent job after this period, if you prove yourself. There's probably a high chance as long as you do everything right!

Re: Working for ASDA, any questions? There was someone 'let go' in my department after their 12 weeks, mainly due to their attitude - it absolutely stunk. You've got to prove yourself as a hard worker and team player especially when you've just started.(Original post by emily27x)

Regarding temps being kept on it depends if your manager has the hours available to take staff on. My contracted hours are very low but through extra shifts I do manage to do between 30 - 35 hours per week.
I guess that depends if they are looking for anyone but I guess the night manager or your manager would be the first person to ask.(Original post by citalopram)
Do you know how to change departments in Asda? Can you do it after 3 months of starting? I want to move from tills to night shifts colleagues.
I am slightly tempted by the night shift for the extra money!
I'm sure all those boys wouldn't mind a girl to come sit and talk to them!(Original post by medaholic)

Just start off with something silly like asking when they're finishing their shifts and I'm sure you'll get to know them all.

Re: Working for ASDA, any questions?Join nights they are lovely especially if your store closes, I did A few night shifts on Pizza's in summer and lots of till midnights so got to know nights, there are only like 20 people who work nights and its alot harder in terms of, everything you put out has to be facing forward rotated the same way, in the right place, and at our store anyway the store manager walks with the nights manager in the morning and looks at everything and it has to be perfect (well more so than us days do)(Original post by citalopram)

Hello, I work for ASDA and have done so for a year, have worked on ALOT of departments and am trained on ALOT of different things (I'm a bit of an ASDA whore, but I need the money, so I like to do alot!)
If you have ANY questions about applying, the application or the interviewing process, even the working and the way to use a till (if your desperate to know :P ) just ask! -
Re: Working for ASDA, any questions? What do you mean? Next paydate is 10th February with 3rd February being the cut-off point.(Original post by charcharchar)
Does anyone know how far ahead we get paid!?
Depends day to day, even within a single store. All reductions are done on the day, not the day or day before like other supermarkets.(Original post by withas)

so annoyed, I was 'laid off' and told there weren't enough hours.. yet, it seems they're advertising for a new grocery assistant in the store I worked in!?
