It honestly depends on the size of the store, and the number of staff they have/need, how much money they are trying to save, etc! It honestly depends on a lot of circumstances. But a lot of people have told me that the period ended and they heard nothing, and a few weeks later, they were called back to be permanent .

All of Asda's contracts are actually now temp for the first 12 weeks, and you only ever get the permanent job after this period, if you prove yourself. There's probably a high chance as long as you do everything right!
Well apparently the manager of my department has already told one of the other temps he's gonna try and keep us all on as Permanents if he can, there's only 3 of us so it gives us a good chance.

Do you know how to change departments in Asda? Can you do it after 3 months of starting? I want to move from tills to night shifts colleagues.

    Hi everyone

My friends mother works at ASDA and am just wondering whether i should ask her if she would recommend me for a job there. Not sure what the procedure would be so advice would be appreciated.

There was someone 'let go' in my department after their 12 weeks, mainly due to their attitude - it absolutely stunk. You've got to prove yourself as a hard worker and team player especially when you've just started.

Regarding temps being kept on it depends if your manager has the hours available to take staff on. My contracted hours are very low but through extra shifts I do manage to do between 30 - 35 hours per week.

I guess that depends if they are looking for anyone but I guess the night manager or your manager would be the first person to ask.

I am slightly tempted by the night shift for the extra money!

I'm sure all those boys wouldn't mind a girl to come sit and talk to them!

Just start off with something silly like asking when they're finishing their shifts and I'm sure you'll get to know them all.

Join nights they are lovely especially if your store closes, I did A few night shifts on Pizza's in summer and lots of till midnights so got to know nights, there are only like 20 people who work nights and its alot harder in terms of, everything you put out has to be facing forward rotated the same way, in the right place, and at our store anyway the store manager walks with the nights manager in the morning and looks at everything and it has to be perfect (well more so than us days do)

Anyone on here a shift leader?

A position has come up at another local, smaller store and I'm not sure if I'd be wasting my and the Personnel Dept's time asking about it.

Hello, I work for ASDA and have done so for a year, have worked on ALOT of departments and am trained on ALOT of different things (I'm a bit of an ASDA whore, but I need the money, so I like to do alot!)

If you have ANY questions about applying, the application or the interviewing process, even the working and the way to use a till (if your desperate to know :P ) just ask!
What time do you put all your reductions out on the shelves?

What do you mean? Next paydate is 10th February with 3rd February being the cut-off point.

Depends day to day, even within a single store. All reductions are done on the day, not the day or day before like other supermarkets.

We don't get paid in advance of work completed.

We get paid every 4 weeks - the next pay day is the 10th Feb for the 4 week period from 7th January to the 3rd February.

    Hope that helps.
