How do I transfer to another pharmacy school?!

Hi,

Does anyone know how/what the process is of transferring to another pharmacy school is. I know it can be done and I have heard of some pharmacy students doing it, but if anyone has first hand experience of this it would be great. I'm really not liking my current uni at all and feel so sad even 3 months later- course is unorganised, uni is soo far, the people are just not my type at all or on my social level and I dont like the environment and it's just getting me sooo down :frown:
Also, if I was currently at another university who offered pharmacy, do you think I'll have a shot if I try to go back there?

Thanks x

The only way you'll know for sure is if you ask yourself. Better than relying on people from here anyway..

Which university are you at now? You should email the universities that are near you and see what they say, LSOP will do it on exceptional cases. Kings won't and I think Kingston might...but transferring all depends on where you currently are studying as that might get you some plus points!

:-s thankss, yes ur right I should call them directly. Im currently at Kingston... so the only two london ones would be LSOP & Kings. Yeh i can imagine kings being strict, bt wondering whether me being there before might help? Either way I'll have to wait till I complete this year right?

Hey um what do you mean by LSOP will only do it on exceptional cases?? What exceptions? Also I don't understand your last point, could you please explain? I'm in the same position as pingu and I really want to move :frown: Any help would be appreciated :'(

And Pingu did you get in? Were you able to transfer??

I have no idea what the exceptions are but a girl on TSR did it. Maybe email LSOP and ask?

What I meant to say is that if you are going from e.g. Kings to Kingston, you have more chance of getting in than if you went from Kingston to Kings.

I would try kingston or herts if you really want to get away from your university. Kings will NOT accept transfers.

What university do you go to btw?

Ah, I see...you might have difficulty, I will try to find the message. EDIT: just checked, I think I might have deleted it. But if I were you a good person to ask advice from is pharmgirl, she is very knowledgable about these things.

I think ABB is fine..what year are you in at Kingston? I have a friend in 2nd year and she is liking her course from what I remember!

You should email LSOP and see what they say..no harm in trying!

Where have you been accepted? Where do you want to go?
I would urgently phone the Uni your interested in and ask if you can be accepted there, you would just have to turn down your original offer.
I'm going to Durham. I know they wernt in clearing, but worth phoning them if interested (although course might be full)

Bradford? Sunderland?

Bradford? Sunderland?

I was wondering the same thing, as I've just started my course for pharmacy, but where I am I don't really see myself settling in and socialising with the people as much, obviously I will see how the goes and try and enjoy it and socialise with people on my course, but as I am a non drinker it isn't the best environment for me.
Is it possible to transfer to another university that does pharmacy for the second year if I get good marks in my first year? Really appreciate any sort of help. Thanks

I have a friend who did a year at Brighton and then transferred to portsmouth. It is possible but she had to start from year 1 again because we are taught things in a different order to Brighton so depends what year you are in and how much you really dislike your Uni

Oh right I dont think there is any point then in transferring if you have to start from year 1 again. Was hoping maybe some universities allowed you to go into the second year, after first year at my university im at now.
Thanks for the help anyway.

Ehhh I know this post has been here for quite a long time but I couldnt find any similar page for this topic on tsr so I'm gonna post this here.

I'm doing my first year in the pharmacy course in the University of Ulster this year. I really want to transfer to the second year of another better uni to do pharmacy like UCL, Nottingham, Queen's Belfast or Bath etc. I really want to know id any unis (like good ones) accept transfer students /_\
Btw, I did my A-Levels last year (Biology, Chemistry and Maths + AS FMath) and did get A*A*Aa
(I know I should have been accepted by most good pharm unis last year if I applied but a lot of stuff happened and now I ended up in Uni of Ulster...)
Did you find out how to do this? I am feeling the same exact way about my uni and environment and I am just not happy at all where I am.
Im in first year pharmacy at the moment, and it's even getting to the point where I am not even sure if I want to do pharmacy anymore.

If you want to transfer you have to start from first year unfortunately as course structures vary between universities. You reapply as normal via UCAS with a statement ,references etc (the usual process).
You would have to consider the financial implications. You would be better ringing student dinance to find out what would happen if you restarted the year in terms of funding. The UCAS deadline has passed so would you want to drop out and reapply for 2017 entry?.
Feel free to PM me  ,hope things get better for you!
HI guys, I'm in a similar situation to you. I'm currently a first year pharmacy student and I feel like the uni is so disorganised and I dont like the atmosphere over here. I got invited for an interview at Manchester however if I get the place then I'de have to start from year 1 again.Do u guys think it worth doing it ?cheers

Yes you'd have to start from year 1 again.
It depends really. You have to take the financial implications into a count.
