lack of clubbing doesnt mean no clubbing.. apparently there are about 1 or 2 clubs in falmouth but are rarely used by the students as there usually in the SU on campus. and there are clubs in other towns obviously, like newquay, but its too difficult to get back unless you fork out for a club but newquay to falmouth is a good 40 mins ish in the car. there are loads of bars and pubs however. and there bulding a new bar/club on campus which will be ready when we start

I have an interview for 21st February for journalism BA but I seem to be the only one for that course :P.
I went to an open day in October and I have to admit the weather was pretty bad, windy and cold, but I've been waiting to go back ever since!
It is a really lovely quaint seaside town and the uni is really good for all the arts and media, it just depends what you're looking for from uni.

I applied for Falmouth to two courses (Theatre: Performance and Theatre: Directing) at the beginning of November, got an email on Friday saying that those courses are being discontinued and that a new course is being run called Theatre. However, the course is exactly the same as the previous theatre courses, it's just called Theatre, rather than Theatre: [specialisation], and you pick modules. The change is completely arbitrary as far as I can see, but I wanna go to Falmouth to do theatre, so I went with it. Just means if I get an interview I'll have to wait ages still.

Do any of you guys know people already there?

Hey! I've already written on the Journalism thread for Falmouth uni, but I found this one too!

I'm in my second year at the uni and for anyone having doubts about how much fun it is not being in a city, I'm having a great time. University is whatever you want it to be. Falmouth has a ton of places to go out and drink, you just have to find them. If you like to dance, Remedies, Mango Tango or Club I might be more your thing, there are a million old pubs and there are a few little trendy bars opening up now too. The Stannary which is on the Tremough campus is good if you live on campus or for a quick drink between lectures and they've put a bar on the Woodlane Campus recently.

The beaches are lovely, even in the winter!

And for those of you mentioning accommodation, it was lovely when I stayed there in 2009/10. I was in Glasney View which are the newer blocks of flats, Glasney Parc are the older ones (which are still fairly new, really). There are 7 people to a flat and everyone has a double bed and en suite bathroom. the only communal area is the kitchen.

This year they've had some problems with the accommodation and the amount of people that applied for rooms though. A lot of people had bunk beds and had to share their rooms. Obviously if people drop out or leave, they will move the rooms around and in the end there will be little-no bunk bedded rooms.
I was surprised at the amount of people that move around/leave uni. My friend's flat had 5/7 people living in it at the end of the year because one moved out and one got kicked out!

I've got an interview for Journalism BA on the 24th of this month-not long now! I've been going to Cornwall and Falmouth on holidays for years, and I just love the area, (extremely different from Stoke-On-Trent) and can't wait to see the university. Has anyone else got an interview soon?

Just made Falmouth my firm choice! Starting the Press & Editorial photography course in September Good luck anyone with interviews, I absolutely loved the place and am not bothered about the lack of clubs. To be honest, if I really want to go to one I'd just go when I'm back home! Can't wait!

I live there (when not at uni) and it's quite a nice place. Beaches, shops and things. Truro isn't far away and nor is Plymouth on the train. The nightlife isn't that bad! A handful of clubs, though only a couple of good ones. Great pubs though. Quote me if you want anything more specific!

Sweet, is there much of a music scene? Any pub band nights sort of thing?
