To put it simply... NO

Some of the lower-graded universities might, but it is unlikely that the top unis such as Nottingham, Bath, School of Pharmacy, or Manchester will (in fact, i know that Bath didnt enter clearing for pharmacy this year)

Maybe LJM, Demontfort, etc will though.

why hasn't she used the other 2 ucas options to put pharmacy down? I regretted it I didn't after I'd received 4 med school rejecetions, it just gave me a lot of troubles to find unis that would accept me

And yet you got into Bath  Congrats
Nottingham were in clearing the year I applied. This year there were only a few places with clearing places weren't there?

As for 'failed' medicine people trying to get into pharmacy through clearing - I remember the admissions tutor at Aston the year I applied saying he would rather take people who wanted to do pharmacy all along over people who originally applied to medicine, even if the former may have lower grades.

They said that at Bath as well. And, as far as I remember, Manchester and Nottingham.

still was lucky to be here at Bath, haha. Didn't know this information before. My flatemate was also a med school reject and she applied to the same unis as what I did as well, Bath and SOP London and we both chose Bath. Good choice.

LSOP does have clearing places. Last year it had clearing places, and the year before if I remember correctly. I cant remember if it had any this year, quite possibly I cant remember.

No one can say which schools of pharmacy will definitely have clearing places or not, it depends on number and quality of applicants.

But Yes, Nottingham and LSOP have both had clearing places. Whether there will be any this year?.. well, who knows?

Yeah, LSOP does have clearing places. I know someone who failed to get the grades for kings, applied through clearing for LSOP and got in.
By the way, did you or do you go to LSOP theepw?

I actually turned down my offer from LSOP because I actually did not like it at all when I went for an open day, but hey, its just my opinion. I am sure some people really enjoy it.

I am actually studying at Reading Uni, it is their first year of doing the Pharmacy course... Only real bonus is that we are working with brand new equipment and only 40 students. Apart from that, I guess its just like any other school of pharmacy around the country.
Brighton went through ucas extra and i think they had clearing spaces also, last year

40 students! How many lecturers are there? That could be pretty good though-smaller classes and therefore more attention.
yh...it wud be great to have only 40 students ...at LSOP....we have around 200 for each lecture!!!!...though on the plus side...at least it means lecturers dont single u out much (as long as u sit riiiight at the back...lol)

Does anyone know how serious they take GCSE results because i have bad gcses but theres a reason for that. Im 19 went to college after work im doing intensive Chemistry and Business Studies been predicted A's for both and i did A2 biology last year intensive and got a grade B and a C grade in Critical thinking AS. Not easy doing A levels in one year but i havent got time too waste!! The reason i did so bad in my GCSEs was because i didnt revise enough but also a couple of months b4 my GCSEs i witnessed an assault which lead to a court case in which i was a witness. during my exams i had to be escorted out of college as i had been freatened serious i know:-p but how do i tell the unis this without sounding like some brute ? someone advise please
What were your GCSE grades? I know most look for a B in Maths if you haven't got it at A Level and B/C in English.
I don't think the not revising enough will get you anywhere , but they might be more considerate if you write to tell them about the court case.

yea thx its ackward, i may give a brief explaination in my ps and if they ask in the interview i can explain. Its just very annoying clearly i am better than a grade D at english. i got all B's and a D in english lit, lang, french and IT although i am good with computers i make websites etc my coursework was lost and thats worth 60% so i actually did quite well to pass it. pathetic results i know especially as gcses seem wortless compared to A levels, seems as though even if i get results im predicted (A's) will all seem worthless. Anyways thx for ur help

Err... Well we do share some lectures, such as organic chemistry and inorganic chemistry with the chemists. However, for Pharmacy Practice lectures, there are 40 of us. We went to the hospital for a trip today, it was great fun. We have quite a lot of lecturers as we are doing quite a wide range of modules this year, such as pharmacy practice, organic chemistry, physical biochemistry, drug design and synthesis, microbiology, human physiology etc, etc. I am sure we are doing more topics than we need to for a school of pharmacy, because all my other friends at Kings and other schools of pharmacy dont have as many hours as me :frown:

GCSE's actually looked good on my personal statement, because my predicted a-level grades were not that good. The Professor could therefore see that my predicted grades did not justify my good GCSE results... so for that I am grateful.

However, that only helped in an interview... I believe that it would be fairly naive to think that Universities make offers on GCSE's. A-Levels take priority, and pretty much every offer if not all will be made on predicted A Level grades/final a level grades.

Yea i agree with what you are saying but they specifically say English language at grade C i spoke to admissions in brighton and they were adamant that i have that. i dont mind resitting but it detracts from my other studies as i am doing two a levels in a year, i cant just take the exam i have to sit the course which means i have less time to study especially as i am working in a hospital doing pharmacy work aswell! do you know anyone who got in without gcse C in english??

it also means i dont know who to apply for as i have good predictions and some Alevels already. English is the only qualification i dont have. what do i do?
speak to admissions for every univeristy that do pharmacy and then make your choices from what they say.

i dont see why some universities wouldnt give you offers.. your work exp shows that you clearly know much about pharmacy in order to make a decision to study it.

I think you might have to resit english.. but see what all the admissions people say and then you can make a better decision
