I live here, and frankly that's a load of bull.

When you're from a city you never notice how much is there because you're so used to it. Everybody who moves to Manchester [except some Premiership footballers, it seems] says it's amazing. All my friends who went there for uni [including myself, I might add] say it's great. I'd move back tomorrow.

Well, I dunno about that, I still think that London pips it; however, I still really like Manchester, it's great

Ever heard of East Glasgow, South London, Nottingham?

Because Manchester is about 1000% safer than these places.

Just kidding bro, I like Manchester. Although it's probably safer to skip over a minefield than it is to drive through Moss Side.

You're probably right, and my standards are probably also pretty high  Not to mention I live in a grim tedious suburb

Happened to me with York. I liked it purely because I'm a Yorkshireman who likes his home, but it was only when I did a summer job working at a backpacker's hostel that I realised just what it meant to other people, what there was for tourists, variety of pubs and bars, etc.
You've never been to Stoke then.

See, that is about 20 years out of date. Moss Side is far from the worst/most dangerous area of Manchester.

I like how you slipped your nondescript home area in there, along with two other whimsical areas.

south london

nottingham

east glascow

In Manchester, an acquaintance of mine once posted a picture taken inside a Clintons Cards store, and under 'Mum' was actually spelt 'Mam'...make of that what you will; I know my opinion.
