Default FP1 2nd Order Differentials (Substitution)

Hello,

I am having some trouble with Q3 of Exercise 6E (page 110) of Heinemann's P4/FP1.

For those of you without a copy the question is:

Find the general solution of:

dy/dx = [y(x + 2y)]/[x(y + 2x)] using the substitution y = vx (v is a function of x).

The answer is:

Cx2y2 = (y - x)3

Please have a go. Explanations of how to reach the answer = rep.

You Are A Legend!
Thank you very much. I havent quite found the point where I went wrong but I am sure I will. I am going to work through it all now.

I have added you my rep list (see below). And you will be repped within 24 hrs. And then again in a weeks time.

I always do maths like that - it's the only way I understand it. Slow, methodical plodder..there won't be many eureka moments for me! And always draw a diagram where possible, makes life so much easier.
