Re: TSR Amateur Athletes SocietyGet involved! Union/league? do you know what position you'd want to play/would be suited to?(Original post by Michael XYZ)
Play casually with friends but nothing competitive. I really wanna try rugby or something when I get into uni though. Played a couple of times for fun with a few friends and it was quite good. -
Re: TSR Amateur Athletes SocietyNot gonna lie, I am clueless to it really. Should ask my friend who plays quite a lot about it. Also no idea about positions.(Original post by Khanage)

Re: TSR Amateur Athletes Society
I play rugby union in the Manchester internal league but I'm hoping to go for the Uni team next year. No idea where I'd place but hopefully no lower than the third team. We have 4 overall. I'm mainly slipping gently back into it as a knee cartilage injury in year 11 and a rotor cuff injury in year 12 stopped me playing for a while.
I continued lifting so I'm a fair bit stronger than most of the lads on the team, but my cardio is appalling especially for a second/third row. -
Re: TSR Amateur Athletes SocietyLeague! May need to start out at wing/centre, although I think you're a lot heavier than when you first started posting here.(Original post by Michael XYZ)

Re: TSR Amateur Athletes SocietyHows your season going bro? If you finish 3rd/4th in premier south and we finish 1st, i think we get entered into the same cup...(Original post by Brotherhood)

Re: TSR Amateur Athletes SocietyLikely to finish second unless we smash Exeter and they slip up against Loughborough big time. Got three games 26th Jan-2nd Feb. Training starts Monday. Reckon we'll just miss each other.(Original post by Khanage)

I am loving this sweep in judo

I have hit it my coach and a BJJ guy in training. Hopefully gonna molest someone with it in competition on 5th Feb. -

Re: TSR Amateur Athletes SocietyI would say a 5-side match especially on astro turf is much quicker and faster, played it on a regular basis for years and loved it, especially when it would rain, as that would up the temp even more(Original post by Blutarsky)
Would you say that playing a 5-a-side football match or even an 11-a-side game is similar in terms of cardio to HIIT?

Re: TSR Amateur Athletes Society
I'll poke my nose in here.
Been out of shape for a while, but recently started going to the gym 3-4 times a week and I can see the results starting already.
Currently Maths Sports captain at Uni, captaining the football (goalkeeper), badminton, rounders and tennis teams, as well as playing rugby (any position really) when it doesn't clash with anything.
Recently rediscovered just how liberating and addictive running actually can be when it's done correctly - managed a personal best in the sense that I'd never run 5k or more before Saturday, when I managed 5.2k in a 30-minute session.
I'm finding the hardest thing is balancing out my diet to cope with both weight loss and core strength/muscle gain, but I think I've just about got there.
