Need Help <.<

Hi everyone

I'm doing AQA AS History- Britain 1906-1951

At the moment I'm struggling to answer this quesiton

part a) Explain why the House of Lords rejected the 1909 budget

I know how to prioritise the part a questions now, but I'm having trouble trying to pick out the relevant points to explain and then explain why it is the most important reason >.<

I've used the mark scheme and so far I've come up witht he points

Most important :

Conservatives regarded the udget as a social revolution

Second important:

Opposition outisde the House Of Lords

And then i'm stuck <.<

I can't expand much on either of those and I can't find another point to make :frown:

To pay for his social reforms, Lloyd George's slogan was, "Make the rich pay."

He proposed the increase of death duties and 2d was to be added to the rate of income tax. a super tax on incomes> £3,000 was to be levied. In addition he proposed a national survey of land with an imposition of a land tax on all increases in value due to development.

The latter proposal was strongly opposed by Landowners whose main defence was the House of Lords, who voted 350 to 75 against the bill.

In effect financial self interest.
