Those who know the Cardiff 1 year postgraduate course in journalism, what are your thoughts on it? This thread shows some think that a specifically journalism qualification is a waste of time, but I think itd be okay if it was just a year? I know barely anything about this course apart from I mentioned it to my tutor and she said some friends of hers had done it and really enjoyed it.

Extra credit: is me doing an English Lit & Politics course a good direction to go in? I really wouldnt get on a just English Lit course anywhere good, and tbh Im not sure if Ill be any good for journalism yet. Im just one of those students. Im just curious as to whether people think me doing Politics (a soft subject) is not a good idea if I plan to do this postgrad course.

I believe that the course in Cardiff is meant to be one of the best Journalism courses in the UK, along with one in London. It seems to be very highly regarded.

4 years ago when my sister was at uni, she lived in a house with a few guys doing this course. I know that they all have good jobs in London as journalists today....so probably a good course.

All I ever hear is about how good Cardiff is for Journalism. Little Jules is right- it's one of the highest regarded in the country.

As for whether or not you should do English and Politics, I don't really think it matters to be honest. I mean, I don't really know, but I want to do Journalism too and I'm doing straight English.

mate did it in 2004/5.some editor of a provincial city paper. still on poor money mind.
