To anyone who has lived in Iraq, or who has family who've lived in Iraq: would you/they rather Iraq as it is now or pre-2003?

As it is now, and hopefully as it gets even better

What a combination! Can't imagine any sane guy saying no to that

Thanks! And he's definitely sane... *fingers crossed*

Things are good, man. Uni's going great and my 2011 app's finally receiving some feedback. How's medicine treating you?

I haven't since I've been at uni, naw. However, I might continue to write again. We'll see.

Here it is: http://theloyalopposition.blogetery.com/

Remind me, have you come to england yet or is your 2011 app for england?

Well, medicine is sort of challenging. To me, so far, I have been able to understand everything though the hard part is having to remember everything as well. Basically needing to be "on it" all the time. Having done no work for my first exam I managed to pass it with the passmark.

I'm going to have to really start working :p: - Which by the way I still haven't done. :sigh:

I would also say pre....and I say that as a kurd...

simply as things were better with saddam, the decadence and stupid excesses of now were not there, the people were better, kinder to their "fellow man" if you will, and not only that, but ALL of iraq has become so much more dangerous, even though you won't hear that about the north....it geniunely is much more dangerous

its a case of better the devil you know, and the fact that with him, many of todays problems would not exist

Really?

That surprises me. When I was in Iraqi-Kurdistan a few months ago, I was very impressed by the professionalism and experience of the security forces.

After visiting the Security Museum in Sulaymanieh, seeing the effects of Op Al-Anfal etc, it really surprises me that you think things are worse now that Saddam is gone...

I've got some recent pictures of Iraq, if anyone fancies I'll try and stick 'em up!

What about the Iranians, the Kurds, the Kuwaitis, the Shias and the people from the Marshlands? What about those who dared speak about Saddam, those who were thrown into human meet grinders? What about those who were raped, brutally tortured and subsequently murdered because they dared speak about Saddam in a repugnant way, the way everyone should speak about him? What about the people we're currently excavating, the ones who died at the hands of Saddam's merciless secret police and armed forces, the ones who were thrown into the mass graves?

These people didn't even experience the 'better' world you describe because it didn't exist.

As for your last comment, Iraq was already a breeding ground for terrorism before we intervened; ever heard of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi? It was falling apart and would've almost certainly fallen apart when his son Uday came to power. Furthermore, these suicide bombings aren't our problem; don't apologise for what these murdering fascists have done. The same happens in Egypt and Pakistan - two countries which we did not invade.

That's it for now - if any techy type can tell me how to code it so the images show up on the page, rather than links, I'd be much obliged.

See above  I've got a picture of Mosul, but it's taken from a few km away, and could be anywhere, tbh.

Thanks :h:
I don't think you can embed the photos in this sub-forum. I just tried and it didn't work
