    Awesome progress, as expected

Shame you feel a bit ****, but the sooner the rest the sooner you'll be raring to get back on it Hope you feel better soon.

How you finding kettlebells? Any noticeable differences? My Tuesday evenings have freed up; perhaps I'll use the Kettlercise class nearby to get in some extra work during the week.
Thanks. Hope I'll back up and running soon. One of the guys from the club wants to go out tonight and I really want to go but I feel too crappy! Will see if I can muster some energy to do my pushups later at least.

R.e. kettlebells, I haven't noticed a difference in my bodyweight or how I look in the mirror or anything, but that's not why I'm doing it. Increasing by 1 rep per set has been good though, as when I first did it I couldn't do 75 total, but 25 reps feels easy now!

    Cheers bud :p:

Inspired by a Dan John article I read ages ago, instead of sitting on my bum all day (apart from when I train) now I'm on holiday, I'm going to go for long walks every day after breakfast just to keep me moving. I made a playlist that's just over 1 hour long so I just have to walk for all of that. Eating breakfast now and then will go out. Clean and Jerk training tonight!

    Clean and Jerk
Well happy with this - didn't troll myself by powercleaning anything, all reps were very good (and easy) full cleans.

    35 x 2
    37.5 x 2
    42.5 x 2
    45 x 2
    47.5 x 2
    47.5 x 2
    50 x 1
    50 x 1
    52.5 x 1
    52.5 x 1
    52.5 x 1
55 x 1 --> Equal PB. Went into the zone for this one, best rep of the night. The clean could easily have been 60kg and the jerk flew up. Hope C&J will continue like this!

    Front Squats
    50 x 3
    57.5 x 3
    62.5 x 3
    (PL belt on)
    70 x 3
    70 x 3
    70 x 3 PB

    Snatch (high) pulls
These were hard doing them after FS.

    37.5 x 3
    42.5 x 3
    45 x 3
    47.5 x 3
    50 x 3
    52.5 x 2
    52.5 x 2

Short term-ish aims are get at LEAST 50/60 in the first competition of the season (20th October) @-69kg bodyweight, thus qualifying me for nationals by 12kg! Will see how training goes over summer and at the start of the season, cos I'll need to get rid of a bit of fat come September as well.

Long term aim is actually to qualify for British seniors and compete there, but that's a while off because the standards are higher.

In terms of squat, just to keep getting stronger. Not going for any singles for a while now, as I'm going away next Friday, feeling the need for a bit more volume right now. Ultimate very long term aim is to get 2xbw squat which at my current weight will be 144kg...but if I lose weight and am about 67kg (which I plan to be) then obviously that target will lower to 134kg, which seems much more doable.

I'm gonna keep pushing the FS like I have been until I stall I think. 72.5 x 3 next week, then 2 triples then 3 triples. Bodyweight FS for 3x3 will be sweet.

    Back Squat
    40 x 5
    50 x 5
    60 x 4
    70 x 3
    77.5 x 3
    (PL belt on)
    85 x 3
    85 x 3
    85 x 3

    Power clean and jerk
    35 x 2
    37.5 x 2
    40 x 2
    42.5 x 2
    45 x 3
    47.5 x 2
    50 x 2
    52.5 x 1 PB

OK, so I really need to sort my cleans out - it's really a joke that I can POWER clean and POWER jerk 2.5kg below my full C&J PB. Something is very technically amiss here. I have never tried to clean over 58kg before (which I did twice) so I am going to give some heavier cleans a go next week.

    Kettlebell swings
16kg - moved up to a heavier weight.

    Awesome yet confusing session today.

    Hang snatch (above the knee)
Never really trained these before and want to train the 3rd pull/power from the hips so decided to give it a go.

    25 x 3
    25 x 3
    25 x 3
    30 x 3
    32.5 x 3
    35 x 3
    37.5 x 3
    40 x 2
    42.5 x 2
    45 x 1
    47.5 x 1 = full snatch PB
    50 x 1 PB
    52.5 x f

Wtf. I hang snatched more than my full snatch PB. Is this normal? It wasn't even hard? Very pleased with this, but confused!! Suggestions welcomed.

    Squat
    40 x 5
    50 x 5
    60 x 3
    70 x 3
    (belt on)
    80 x 3
    87.5 x 3
    87.5 x 3
    87.5 x 3 PB

    Strong!
and really surprising with the hang snatches.. I find them way harder/can do less weight with them, but then again I find they usually force me to get a better extension to get the necessary bar acceleration.

I would assume because you're ripping it off the ground on the first pull which can actually slow down the second pull. The oly coach I was speaking to said I had/have this habit quite bad and basically made me almost do my 1st pull in slow motion, ala:

Yeah it must have been that! The reason I failed the 52.5 was (I think) because I was tired from holding the bar too long. I probably could have got it if I tried again and didn't wait in the start position as long.

Oh if only I could be as good as him :moon:

But thanks, that really helps! I guess now I KNOW I can do more in the last phase I just have to work on linking them together. Definitely gonna try a very slow 1st pull and see if I get in a better position for the 2nd and 3rd pulls.
