Re: The Dressing Room X - The TDR Awards Winners are announced. That does make sense.(Original post by Deshi)
Does this make sense? My notes are contradicting each other and it is pissing me off......
P(Not A n B) = P(B) - P(A n B) ????????
The 'Not A' is basically the compliment of A, I just don't know how to do an A with a line on top
I am bare confused.
If you're ever confused, consider two dice.
Let A be 'roll a 3 on dice 1' with probability 1/6, ao NOT A = 5/6.
Let B be 'roll an even on dice 2) with prob 1/2.
Then P(NOT A n B) = 5/6*1/2 = 5/12.
P(B)-P(AnB) = 1/2 - 1/2*1/6 = 5/12.
[for completeness, let event A have probability a (so NOT A has prob (1-a)) and event B have probability b. Then you can show LHS = RHS]Last edited by marcusmerehay; 17-01-2011 at 14:32. -
