I decided to accept the offer in Oxford. Don't want to be messing around with it now and to be honest Oxford is a nice place to live. So I will be going to the welcome event, anyone else get Oxford and going?

Not based in Oxford but going to the welcome event. Might sound like a stupid question but what are people going to wear to the welcome event? Will suits be expected?

I am accepting my place in Warrington - did anyone else get Warrington? I am going to the welcome event but not sure how I will wangle it with work as I have negative leave left, definitely think it sounds worthwhile though. But it's a bit odd that they're saying it'll help us decide whether to take up our places, after they've already asked us to confirm our acceptance before then.

I doubt suits will be expected but I also bet some people will wear them - I will probably wear normal work wear but not a suit.

Mad. Might be cheaper to see if you can get a couple of advance singles and come down the night before and stay in a travel lodge even...

I've booked mine, was £241. They are obviously aware of where we are based and so should have an idea of the costs

    Probably Cheaper to fly..

This with gatwick express into London straight to Victoria at 28pounds return works out almost 100 pounds cheaper

Not that I'm that bothered but flights at this price and gatwick express at 28pounds return would save 100pounds. Just an observation

Hey Chris! Good stuff, our lil Warrington posse is growing steadily! I will 2nd the roll on Sept quote, especially as I'll have to work my notice in my current employment! I just wanna start learning again!

Where are you travelling from Chris? My ticket from Chester, if I go on the day, will be around £120 return, so yours sounds extortionate! If I go the day before however, it'll only be around £50 return, so I'm in the process of seeing if I can get cheap enough accommodation to justify going the day before. Where are you travelling from if you go monkeyl? Anybody else going from Chester?

I'm going from Warrington bank quay, wanted to get everything sorted before my holiday (tomorrow!) So didn't really hav time to shop around. I would probably struggle to get two days off from work

I didn't think there would be many places in Warrington but 3 so far is a good sign.

Good luck on sorting transport and hopefully see the Warrington posse on the day

We will all begin at £27,045 unless in London. The only exemption might be those already employed in hmrc who may receive more depending on their previous position. There is also a pay freeze which could be extended. We may benefit from a pay increase after 2 years on the programme which will be competency based but this hasn't been confirmed nor the details released.

I left Liverpool in 2009, lived in Oxford for a year and London for 2 years, now can't wait to get back to Liverpool I love it there have been wanting to move back up for a while so this is perfect. Have started doing some fantasy flat hunting!
How early will you have to leave if you go down on the day? Id do it on the day if poss as they've asked that in the email and they might be funny about reimbursing you for staying somewhere if they decide that you could have gone on the day. But it depends how long it'll take you. Have a good weekend!

Good stuff hon, sounds like everything is coming together for you! I'm a great believer in things happening for a reason and plans coming together!!

It's not so much that I'd have to leave super early, it's actually the fact that it could well be a lot cheaper to go the day before and get a cheap B&B, if there is such a thing in London! To go on the day, it'll cost around £170 return, but to go the day before it'll only cost £50 return! I have emailed to ask if this would be acceptable, but nobody has replied yet. Will try them again on mon.

I'd prefer to go on the day really, less hassle, no packing, etc, but I'm a bit of a money saving stalwart and I really begrudge paying more for anything if I can do it cheaper an alternative way! Ho hum, will sort it one way or t'other!!
