Hi! I was worrying too...I sent my ucas application on the 14th January because I was working and couldn't get time to finish it and send it.

I don't think they would have allocated places yet, the UCAS closing date is the 15th January, so if you had it in on time that's that. Unless the university stated an earlier closing date. It might just mean you get university responses a bit later than people who applied before the 15th January.

Hiya. I have been invited to a selection day at Coventry university for a BA (Hons) in Social work on the 23rd of February. I was told that there will be a written paper and if successful in that you will be later interviewed. I have no issue with the interview as I am well prepared but I am very nervous about the written paper and I think that will be my downfall.

It will be highly appreciated if anyone could get back to me with any information. Just to give me a little insight as of what to expect.

    Thankss xx

Anyone applied to welsh uni's? My app went off around 5th of december to swansea, glamorgan and uwic.

I received a request for further information and references from swansea but nothing from the other two.

I know its really competitive, I just hope my application was good enough to be selected for interview.

Had interview for social work yesterday. First part was to discuss a case study in 3 parts, seemed to say enough although there were some strong characters in the discussion. hen had a small break and had to complete a timed writtern work in a hour. I already knew the question.
Then the interview. Had to wait around they asked me 5 questions:
Why do you want to be a social worker?
    Values of a social worker?
a discrimination scernio that I have been in and how I dealt with it.
How the degree will affect me emotionally and its demands

Wasn't that bad and I feel that I have done well. Wont know for up to 8 weeks the outcome. The advice I would give is to reasearch and be well prepared. I beleiver this really helped me.

I applied to 5 universities in november and had offers from all of them within a week (swansea being one of them). there will be less places available on courses now if your sending it off just before the deadline!

Do you know if every interview involves the discussion of a case study? I have an interview for Hull and on the letter it says I have to do a written test for over an hour and then have an interview infront of a panel? Also, anyone know what the written test is about and what they are looking for? thank you

It's great to see how everyone's getting on. Congratulations to all with offers already. I sent my application about an hour before the deadline so I'm feeling really nervous about making a bad initial impression!

Did anyone go to the Lancaster and UCLAN postgrad open events?

Hi have you applied for the BSc or MA? I've applied for the BSc and Swansea said they are screening applications next month and they will invite people for interviews in March.

Did you have an interview? Well done for getting in are you going to go to Swansea?

    Hi all,

Big congrats to all those who have got offers & interviews for Social Work so far! Well deserved i'm sure, but please don't snap all those places up just yet! I applied a little later than i'd have hoped to (14th Jan) and am understandably still awaiting to hear back form my choices.

    Applied to:
    Salford
    Man Met
    Stockport College
    Northampton
    DMU

DMU says that they have their own institutions test, can anyone elaborate?
I've heard that Salford and DMU both have group interview days, but any news on the other uni's procedures would be lovely!!

    Thanks x
