Amazing Bands/Artists that No-one Knows.

Poets of The Fall, found them through Max Payne 2 and loved them ever since, surprised not many know about them, though Alan Wake made them a bit more popular too.
No one seems to give a **** about youth lagoon, even though he has a great and interesting indie sound..

Faith No More are one of the greatest and most individual rock bands out there, yet no one under the age of 25 has a clue.

I've loved Faith No More since I was 16, Angel Dust is one of the greatest albums ever :P

Here's a few lesser-known bands I really like:
Sunny Day Real Estate
And So I Watch You From Afar
****ed Up
The New Pornographers
Pavement (fairly popular, but only to their cult following)
Django Django

I'm not trying to sound pretentious or overly individual and whatever, but there are some artists/bands out there that really deserve to have more publicity than the music from like Ke$ha and **** like that that in the charts, not saying the chart songs aren't good, but there are some hidden gems that need more attention!

Post your favourites/recommendations

Mine:

Ratatat (electro and techno-ey but deserve SO MUCH MORE)

The Mae Shi (alternative - this song is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUKAcKKQns4 & as is this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ4ge2kWC8Y)

Scroobius Pip (british rap/spoken work - the lyrics are amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GvR8t2HDys)

Wait What (hes not someone in the charts, but is a youtube artist, who mased up the XX & Notorious B.I.G; beauty insues http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFB4NMLSz9c)

I know thats only a couple, but I really should go back to revising for my mocks this week... :colondollar: x

Thank you, for introducing me to this

Really like Poets of the Fall :h:

Not sure how I found out about them. It was probably through their cover of Chris Cornell's You Know My Name.
But you're right, I'm also surprised they're not that well known. Maybe it's partly that they tend to tour only in and around the Baltic.

They were really good once they got going ... It was a bit awkward at first though cos they were the first support group on, and at the time not many people knew who they were

The Antlers. I know on the internet they're a pretty big deal, but outside of that I've never meet anyone else who's heard of them.
Alabama Shakes - and their album is out today!

Soooooo good. Like Kings of Leon before they got ****.

music's best kept secrets are joe purdy, jackie greene and gareth dunlop. all folky singer/songwriter/guitarists. Love them

Angus and Julia Stone?

Duo of a similar ilk.
I love Joe Purdy

Noah and the whale are great .. Saw them live

you might like: Mystery jets, laura marling, los campesinos, stornaway .. I think they all know each other Haha

It's amazing how big they all are now...I remember seeing Laura Marling for the first time when I was 17 supporting the Maccabees in 2007. And Mystery jets supported by Noah and the Whale in 2008 at Birmingham Barfly! That was on Zane Lowes Gonzo tour. Woah I feel old O_o

Laura Marling was dating Noah and the Whales lead singer when they did the first album, then she split up with him and started dating the guy from Mumford and Sons I think. But anyway she is the reason their second album is so sad!
I think Laura Marling is getting pretty recognised these days.

How about Violets? (http://violets.bandcamp.com/)
Two Words (followed by three in brackets) . . .

. . . Toby Marks (Banco De Gaia)
Very few people have heard of SUBLIME and they were one of the most awesome bands to grace the earth. No longer, with the crappy new lead guitarist / singer. But early / mid 90's with Brad <3. Absolute genius!
Ooh thought of another one - Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Such good fun

These lads are going to be the next big thing.

Most probably, they're unoriginal enough to be big in the current musical climate...although guitar music is definitely on its way out. Unfortunately in my eyes.
