In terms of pop, MPHO is very good. She released a song called Box N Locks, but then got dropped (surprisingly quickly). Her album leaked online after she was dropped, and it's quite good. It's not to everyone's taste of course, but it's pure pop and just incredibly fun but yet quite sad at times. I'm not advertising this album well at the moment, am I? :')

CRYSTAL STILTS.
These guys are from New York and are thus not well-known in the UK at all.
They play dark and dirty psychedelic rock. They are one of my favourite bands ever. They also make use of a lot of reverb which make their lyrics a little obscured and distant, but the lyrics are fantastic!

The Motifs
Creators of one of my favourite records of all time, Cross Paths - 40 minutes of twee pop, released only on vinyl in 2008 and limited to 200 copies.
It's crackly, catchy, and humanising.

Cinderella - great hair metal band but never got as much recognition as, say, Motley Cure. Proof of their awesomeness:
Also, Skid Row. If you're talking about the best bands of the 1980s and the early 90s, Skid Row has to be there. Their first two albums are absolutely amazing.

Has anyone provided any love for 65daysofstatic?
They recently released a soundtrack for a '70s sci-fi film called Silent Running, and it's a brilliant little album they've put together.
Their usual stuff is much different, though. (I saw this video at a science-based stage show called Uncaged Monkeys, with the soundtrack being provided by said band.)
You sir, have a fantastic taste in music
Have you heard of maybeshewill? similar sort of thing so worth checking out! -

Marching Band are a two-person indie acoustic pop style band who have some of the most catchy beautiful songs you'll ever hear on their two albums Spark Large and Pop Cycle.
Their tracks have been used on popular TV shows such as Scrubs and How I Met Your Mother but still don't have the recognition they deserve. They should have a 3rd album out soon.
Tracks I recommend searching for: Gorgeous Behaviour, Aggravate, Make-Up Artist, Another Day
Also, Clock Opera are an up and coming chop-pop band based in England at the moment. Check out Belongings and Move to the Mountains to have your worlds rocked!
