Re: Amazing Bands/Artists that No-one Knows.Anybody who has listened to trance ever will surely have heard of these two? AvB is probably the biggest name around right now(Original post by IcEmAn911)
Armin van Buuren and Gareth Emery!
I think I know what you mean though, outside of trance you are unlikely to have heard them. -
Re: Amazing Bands/Artists that No-one Knows.Yeah, love citizen fish.(Original post by Alexx53)
Citizen Fish, Subhumans, Jeffrey Lewis. I think Anti-Flag are really underrated too. -
Devin Townsend (from Strapping Young Lad) has an incredible solo progressive metal project which is not well enough known. I've lost touch with metal over the years, but his work is amazing and I still enjoy listening to it. Haven't found anything under 'metal' that has been able to impress me since. I would recommend his 'Ziltoid the Omniscient' or 'Ki' albums (the latter being less heavy) for a first listen.
May as well give Captain Beefheart a plug too, has produced rather ridiculous music at times and really does not conform to the normal rules of writing music, despite the 'hipster' scene not being around during his time

Clutch. They're not unknown but they're not THAT popular. It's kinda southern/stoner rock, from Maryland. If you like Corrosion of Conformity, Black Label Society or Fu Manchu, you should like them too.

Re: Amazing Bands/Artists that No-one Knows.I should really get into Townsend, heard he's amazing! Agree with Beefheart too, Pena always leaves me slightly baffled, as does the rest of Trout Mask Replica! Regarding the metal; you've probably heard of Opeth, if not there's a band that have made incredible progressive metal and are making brilliant prog rock too - Heritage is especially good live! And considering you've got Dark Side as your avatar I'd recommend Porcupine Tree, particularly Steven Wilson's new solo record, but I'd start off with Akerfeldt (Opeth) and Wilson's mesmerizing new project/album Storm Corrosion.(Original post by North Irelandman)
