Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester UniAh, no way that sucks! I wonder if that is to do with those extra places they were talking about? The ones they said they would give a deferred offer for. If they are finding out the decision of whether they get the extra places pretty soon they may rather wait til they know for sure instead of giving you a deferred place.(Original post by missmolly41)
my decision was "stop" so after a little research on the gttr website ive found out that this means the university needs more time to make a decision!
Anyhoo, good luck, hope you here soon! -
Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester Uni
i called manchester uni this morning and my interview was successful! theyre just deciding if i will get a place this year or a defered place next year, which i kind of prefer! as im an international student (havent lived in the uk for 3 years yet) and the fee is £11,500! so more time to save up money!

Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester Uni
Yeah I think we go back in to uni when our placement schools have half term. I remember them saying at our interview that Easter was the only realistic chance for a break, as Christmas is full of assignments, so if anyone is planning trips home to see family etc, Easter's the time to do it.

Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester Uni
Received an email from admissions today with about 8 attachments on - I thought they checked all our exam certificates when we went in to the assessment centre?! The letter says to send them all in to admissions again?! I might check that one out before I do... Also I spent a year abroad as part of my degree and it looks like I'll have to contact the Italian embassy to find out how to obtain police clearance from there... Never simple eh....

Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester Uni
Lucydew, I'm having to do the overseas police check for Spain - nightmare!! I rang and we definitely need it, but it's just a case as asap rather than getting them back within the month like the other forms... Good luck!
Agreed that it'd be nice to have more info than just a start date though x -

Oh dear god, this is gonna be a nightmare! Sounds like I'd better get onto the consulate tomorrow...sooner rather than later, I can see this taking months!
I would really like placement dates and similar, have to start thinking about childcare arrangements...I was surprised by the finish date (22?nd June) - seemed quite early ! More time for job hunting though i suppose! -
Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester Uni
I found out how to do it on the Spanish 'ministry of justice' website so that might be a useful place to check... It's not so complicated in theory, it's just trying to get the money across, but gunna give it a go during my hols and will report back! Just bet to get all these bureaucracy things out of the way I think and hope it's done after this batch! x

Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester Uni
Omg, just called doctor's surgery to discover that the fee for signing off my health check thing is £73.50!!!! I nearly passed out! Have to go and pay it this week before he'll complete it - next Monday...not even a quick service! I know it's outside the gp's normal work but still...Anybody else pay this or am I being ripped off?!
-
Re: Primary PGCE Interview - Manchester UniThat does sound a bit steep love! I know it varies between doctors, but most people I know paid £25 and the most I've heard someone pay is £35....(Original post by lucydew)

We are in Scotland though!
Maybe worth ringing Natalie and checking that out?
