Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyNope, but it wouldn't apply to me anyway as I'm on a console.(Original post by Ari Ben Canaan)
Did any of the wikis provide console commands to mark the quest as done ?
Thanks for the idea though.
I did try returning but I didn't wait 10-30 days so I guess I'll try that! You're right about the ashpile, thinking about it, but the mace was ON the ashpile's body, (or loot...) so I assumed that was the necromancer? It would be a bit weird for the mace to be in the body of a summond being, but who knows?(Original post by Dalimyr)
The quest would be marked as completed after the item (in this case the mace) has been collected and its guardian (a necromancer) has been killed. The necromancer presumably hasn't been killed. A pile of ash would indicate a corpse that a necromancer has brought back to life that has died again either through combat or through the animate corpse spell expiring (a necromancer can only reanimate a corpse once, then it turns to ash and can't be reanimated again) and would not be the body of the necromancer itself. From my experience, sometimes necromancers can wander around a bit (they seem easily distracted by wildlife so go running after deer and stuff
) so try going back to the place where the item was and look around again for the necromancer.
It might help you locate him if you have a follower. Sheathe your weapon and just run around the area - when the necromancer is close, your follower should get their weapon out and stare in the direction of the necromancer. Just hope he hasn't got himself stuck in a rock or under the ground or something so he's "there" but can't be reached and thus can't be killed.
Leaving the area and not returning for 10+ days (30+ in the event the watchtower is marked as "cleared", though I assume that isn't the case) so the site respawns might help.
Failing all of that, if you're on a console then you're probably stuffed but if you're on PC then some console commands ought to be able to help.
I'll go back and check to see if he's respawned, otherwise I'm buggered because I'm on a console.
Thanks for the help :3Last edited by echeee; 20-05-2012 at 20:01. -
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyWas it definitely the mace that you were supposed to get, then? Because that sounds like it was just some minion that had a mace of embers that died and was brought to life by a necromancer. I haven't done treasure hunter quests too often, but the last one I did, the treasure (a sword or bow or something) was in a chest at the top of a watchtower, and the orc that was guarding it was on top of the watchtower as well.(Original post by echeee)

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyYep, definitely the mace, it's in the letter and it's in the task discription lol.(Original post by Dalimyr)

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietySorry, I wasn't clear. What I meant was whether the mace you found was the specific mace that you were meant to find. The treasure hunter things get you to go after a specific item, but the type of item is a generic magical item (a fire mace in your case), and it's perfectly possible for enemies to be carrying magical weapons as well. It'd be a bit of a bugger if this was the case, but I'm basically saying that is there a chance that you were asked to get Mace of Embers A, and some enemy spawned carrying Mace of Embers B and you've picked it up thinking it's Mace A? I'm just saying that because some other quests have been known to be rather messed up when they involve picking up items which you could pick up elsewhere or already have in your inventory (e.g. one quest in Solitude has you collect an amulet of talos, but after you pick up the amulet you need, you can't drop ANY talos amulets until after you complete the quest)(Original post by echeee)

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyHmmm, I get what you're saying. I guess this is completley possible. When I play it tomorrow I'll go back there and check and see if I can find anything.(Original post by Dalimyr)

I guess what I find so unusual about it is that I can't find any trace of this quest anywhere. It's like they made the quest then decided to remove it in an update or something.
Thanks for all the replies, I'll head back there tomorrow.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyI joined the Stormcloaks at level 20 even though I helped that Imperial escape from Helgen.(Original post by F Ellen)
Still haven't chosen whether to join imperials or stormcloaks. At what level did everyone decide?
I had to kill some ice wraiths to prove myself to the Stormcloaks. -
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyOn the one hand, those Imperials almost executed me. On the other, I'm a dark elf and the Stormcloaks are a bit racist, lol.(Original post by Ari Ben Canaan)

Then again there is that final Dark Brotherhood quest where I killed :
EPIC SPOILER DO NOT OPEN IF YOU HAVENT DONE THE QUEST
Spoiler:Showthe Emperor
So after that I sort of had no choice but to continue eradicating the Imperialistic scum from Skyrim. -

I might choose Imperials, because I heard that:Spoiler:Showif you choose Stormcloaks, Solitude gets destroyed, and if you choose Imperials, Windhelm gets destroyed. And I hate Windhelm.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyI thought that was a bit bold tbh, and there are no serious reprecussions which would happen if such a thing were to take place. Bit of a fail.(Original post by Ari Ben Canaan)

The whole swimming up to the ship and climbing on board and then carrying out the mission
Especially if you went the cloak and dagger route like I did.
Haha !!(Original post by F Ellen)

Spoiler:ShowI spent ages trying to figure out how to kill her. I tried standing on one of the balconies and killing her with a bow and arrow.... Couldn't get a clear shot though.
Spoiler:ShowNot really. In the battle scenes the town will be destroyed but will self repair soon enough. -

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Society
I went for the Imperials.
Just because, although it seems like the Stormcloaks are fighting for freedom, they're just a bunch of racists that rule with brute force.
At least the Imperials seem to be more civalised.
I'm glad I joined the Imperials because
Spoiler:ShowThey caused a battle over Whiterun, and no-one attacks my Whiterun and gets away with it.
edit: Although I will add, I joined them on accident. Originally I had wanted to join the Stormcloaks, but for some reason (must have clicked an option on accident
) I joined the Imperials.
Although, I'm glad I did now tbh.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietySo wait, this is just a normal free update? Or will I have to pay for the privilege of killing someone whilst gracefully riding my Shadowmere?(Original post by cambo211)
"1.6 Update (all platforms unless specified)
NEW FEATURES
Mounted Combat - Skyrim now allows you to do melee and ranged combat while riding a horse"
May have to revisit the land of Skyrim. -
Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SocietyNormal update as far as i'm aware.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

Other things listed are just bug fixes.
Thanks for the idea though.
