The way I see it you have the rest of the game for level progression and tactics. A good mini game should offer something different.
I disagree. Tetra Master and Triple Triad are held to be two of the best mini games found within the series and they had exceptional depth and level progression. Hell, they even imported Tetra Master into FFXI because it proved to be so popular. The snowboarding one was fun, though I personally preferred the bike minigame in VII, but Blitzball was pretty damn amazing and could probably survive as a stand-alone game, really.

Well FFVII snowboarding did become a stand alone game
It was on mobile phones and Japan only though.

I thought the graphics were pretty decent for a DS game. I know that the portrait style doesn't appeal to a lot of people but I love it and Tetsuya Nomura drawing them was a huge bonus
I liked it though wasnt so keen on the battle system... one ds flick could easily be confused:s: and then theres joshua :pinch: oh dear was he annoying

but I cant play it to the end because my game messed up

True, but didn't they have to expand it beyond the original mini-game?

Easily one of the best RPGs of recent years. I loved that game so much.

Quite possibly, but I think there's enough content there already for a mobile phone game, depending on price point. If I remember there were 4 courses, plus there were time attack and speed up modes to unlock. It also had a lot of replayability if you try and get the highest rankings on each course (which was bloody hard, I don't think I've ever managed to do it).

Blitzball was lame compared to FFVII snowboarding.
But the snowboarding game was fairly limited.

With blitzball, it was integrated into the wider game as well. You could recruit players from other teams by speaking to them on the world map. Blitzball was tied into the story as well. Not to mention all of the abilities that could be learnt and the different strategies that were needed to prevail.

I have always thought that Square Enx could easily release a standalone blitzball game and it would sell.

Well, my personal preference is mini games that are more different from the primary game play, rather than a mini-RPG inside an RPG.

I suppose there are merits to mini-games where each play is seperate to the prevous play. Blitzball was something that was a long play, especially if you want to unlock main game items.

I loved The World Ends With You. It truly was a breath of fresh air in the stale genre of JRPGs coming out these last few years. I still play it over and over. One of the DS games I really don't mind playing on the DS

Honestly, the last line is something I hear echoed everywhere. A standalone Blitzball sports game or Arcade game would be amazing. It would sell so well, Blitzball is a game which has been resoundingly popular. I am not sure why they do not do such a thing.

I'd love a stand alone blitzball game, would be ****ing awesome (somewhere between X's play style, and X-2s more comprehensive training and stuff). I liked triple triad too (free versions online of that as well), but not so keen on tetra master.

Wasn't FFX and FFX-2 released around the time they were developing all of the FFVII universe stuff (the dirge of cerbarus, advent children and crisis core ect) so it could have been that they didn't have the resources.

Well they have the resources now, I think it would be quite easy to do. It doesn't even have to be a massive game like FIFA or anything, just a stand alone pack almost like an expansion or arcade game. And if it had a multiplayer feature :coma:

I reckon it could potentially start a new sport.

I suppose with the advent of Xbox live and the PS3 equivilant, it would be easy to impliment an arcade game of it. It would be awesome. Can you imagine the fun of a multiplayer element!

I know, I think it could potentially start a new FF craze. Multiplayer blitzball would be mental. If they did it for FFVII snowboarding, why not blitzball?!

Then again, the FFVII snowboarding was a mobile game =/

I'ds rather blitzball be a console game. Like on the PSP or something :yep:

    Also, join the soc :ninja:

I recall playing a fame called unlimited saga, which had a very interesting battle system revolving around a slots style battle system. It was quite odd, but enjoyable. Did anyone else paly this?

I've played it some. Can still buy it on ebay and stuff. Good game. The Saga games were always pretty damn fun.

One of my favourite games on that system. Need to play its sequel.

Love the Tales of ... series. It is an amazing series and an original one. Unmatched in its animation style. One of the first JRPG I played. :yy:
