Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society II
Thought we played well yesterday, were unfortunate not to win. Don't think there was much Harry could have done; Vaart was playing too well to sub him for Defoe, and there weren't really any other options that would have made much of a difference. Still reckon Arsenal will mess up next week, the atmosphere at the Hawthorns should be immense for Roy's last game and they will crumble, letting us into 3rd (with Newcastle 4th

Do you have rabies?
I'm not very peaceful and very quiet in general.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society II
Really is a massive game for you guys against Fulham isn't it?!
I can definitely see Newcastle beating Everton, which means you have to win though im sure you know that already. Must feel surreal, knowing that the game is the difference between CL football and not, and between keeping Bale/Modric or not.
Nervous? Excited? What do you think will happen? -
Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society IIPretty much just like sunday was a 'must win' for champions league football. Winning on sunday (presuming scum win) just gives us a chance of CL, depends on Munich spanking chelsea.(Original post by Da_hopeful_1)

Having said that, I think we'll win, but I thought that on sunday..

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society IIIf Chelsea beat Liverpool tonight then they are on 64 points with at least +22 GD. That means that, by my reckoning, any of the four teams in 3-6 can finish third and any can finish 6th.(Original post by amyshamblesxx)
Nervous, very nervous.
Just hoping we don't bottle it in true Spurs style.
So nervous times for everyone. Chelsea will comfortably beat Blackburn so their chance of finishing top four depends on the Liverpool game tonight. Newcastle won't walk over Everton away and Arsenal may face a tough time at West Brom with it being Hodgson's last game in charge. And then there's Spurs who are always capable of throwing it all away.
The title race looks over, the relegation battle comes down to whether Bolton beat Stoke.
But the race for 3rd and fourth is where it all happens! -
Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society II
Just read that Ekotto interview, very disrespectful considering how close Tottenham are to CL football. Even then, what teams in Europe would want him that are constantly in the CL? I can't think of one. He's lucky to with you guys personally. He's not done anything amazing to warrant a transfer to a 'bigger' club.

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society II"Everything is possible," Assou-Ekotto told France Football.(Original post by jermaindefoe)
what did it say?
"When I met my chairman last January, he told me that if a club bigger than Tottenham came for me, it (the club) would not necessarily be against a departure. With my chairman, there was a gentleman's agreement. As he is a man of his word, I hope it will make things easier if a great club comes in."
He added: "If there is a change at Tottenham - some more money is made available maybe - I wouldn't be against the idea of staying, but otherwise I'll try to move forward, as I did when I left Lens."
"All players want to play this competition," he said. "A few months ago, I said I never wanted to participate in the Europa League, because this competition is useless.
"If I have to leave Tottenham, it will be to join a club that makes the Champions League.
"Spain, Italy, Germany, wherever. The grass is green everywhere!" -
Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society IIIt's a weird one. He's a crowd favourite and therefore slightly overrated by all of us. So the comment is a bit unprovoked but he's known for not mincing his words and being a bit detached from English football culture and etiquette. But who would he go to? Comparing him to Cole, Evra or even Clichy would be silly. He's on a par with Gibbs but under contract and as such would never be sold to Arsenal in a million years. If he were out of contract I could definitely see him moving to Arsenal.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

He won't be sold, in short because Rose is bad and no other CL club will buy him.Last edited by rockrunride; 08-05-2012 at 19:23. -
Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society IIHis comments just remind me of Hazard. The difference is, the Belgium is being rated as one of the best wingers in the world whilst BAE is nothing special.(Original post by rockrunride)

Arsene would never buy him. Like you said, Gibbs is just as good as him and is only 22. Ekotto is probably in the peak of his career atm.
You guys must be slightly worried that there are quite a few 'Gentleman's' agreements between the players and the club. It's fortunate that you are likely to finish in the CL places, otherwise, you could've been in a heap of mess. -
Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society IIOnly two players have come out claiming they have had gentleman's agreement with the chairman, those being ekotto and modric. Modric's claim was denied by the chairman and well who knows if there is any truth behind the ekotto one.(Original post by Darth Vader 7)

Re: Tottenham Hotspur Society II
I'm a massive BAE fan, genuine love for him. I'd put him inside in the top 4/5 left backs in the league.
Might be slightly rose tinted.
BBC pundit Leon Mann claims to have spoken to Ekotto, says he was quoted out of context. https://twitter.com/#!/Leon_Mann/sta...22483468570624
Let's face it, our quirky left back, with afro hair, odd coloured boots and a penchant for skills in suicidal areas, who used to drive a smart car and owns a collection of fine mustangs, is all about the money...
He's probably just after a pay rise. -
