Plymouth University Primary School Education Interview

Hey
I have an interview at Plymouth University for Primary Education on Thursday! I was just wondering if anyone else was going, or if anyone has had an interview there and has some advice. I'm a bit nervous about the group interview as I don't know what to expect or how to relate the reading they gave us to my past experience in a school.

Anyone got any advice?

Hey  I've had an interview there already, in early December, so might be able to give you some tips!

First we registered, they checked our documents and took them away to be photocopied. I met lots of lovely people whilst we were waiting - don't be afraid to talk to people! We went into a lecture theater, watched a presentation about the course in more detail, and then completed the tests. It was a maths and English test - it was only short, about half an hour, really simple maths, about Year 6 standard I think he said! But I just found this was pressure not to do anything wrong! The group interviews were different for each specialism - I know some people had small individual slots allocated by their interviewer, but most were group interviews. There were 8 people being interviewed for my specialism - Humanities, but the interviewer split us into two groups of 4. We were asked questions and went around the group offering our opinions and discussing them. Just be as confident as you can and try to feel comfortable and at ease.

What specialism did you apply for? Feel free to ask me anything else about the day!

Wow! Thanks, my specialism is humanities too! It says at the bottom of the article to try and relate it to work experience, did they ask many questions on this? I'm not sure how to do it? What were the questions like? Sorry, I think I'm babbling a bit, this is my first interview and I'm really nervous!

What kind of stuff is on the maths/english tests? Are they like year 6 sats?

Do you know how long it will be until you hear back from them?

In the humanities specialism interview they didn't ask a thing about the reading they asked us to do beforehand!! However, we were the first interview, so that might have changed now they have done more interviews etc, so sorry I can't help more with that one! It was mostly just general questions about what we think is important in a classroom/teacher, etc

Don't be sorry for babbling, I talk too much constantly :P

The maths and English tests are meant to be around Year 6 level, nothing really that hard, and they give you about half an hour to do it - they are both on one paper! It's a tad of a rush, but not too hard.

And about hearing back, they said around January time. However, me and other people from the interview who I am still in touch with haven't heard anything :frown: I'm stressing!

Let us know how it goes! Good luck!
