The Dark Knight Rises
Whether you think cinema died with Hitchcock or only got good once Michael Bay started blowing up helicopters, this is the place where moving pictures are discussed.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises: Bane and Catwoman ConfirmedSame here, I was reallly hoping for Strange or Hush. But Nolan's basing him off the persona in one of the comics where he's some kind of expert military strategist, so it could be pretty cool.(Original post by Christien)
I would have preferred Hugo Strange to Bane, but in all honesty, Nolan probably knows what he's doing. -

Unsure about the return of Catwoman more than anything. Hathaway in the Catsuit must have been too appealing for him but I've seen more than enough of her after Love and Other Drugs.
So long as the other Nolan hasn't been let near the story and is only concerning himself with the script I'll be happy.
As for The Hobbit I'm sure Jackson will do a fine job at making another couple of 3 hour fests out of strolling through the countryside but that is for another time. -
Re: The Dark Knight Rises: Bane and Catwoman Confirmed
Tom Hardy is great but... He just doesn't seem right as Bane.
The Knightfall saga is my favourite Batman ****, the only comic story I guess I really like. Meh. It's not gonna be done 'right', that wouldn't work in the space of one film but whatever, it'll probably be decent.
**** all you nuuubs that don't know who Bane is. -
Re: The Dark Knight Rises: Bane and Catwoman Confirmed
I'm not a big fan of Anne Hathaway to be honest, but I just know Nolan is going to make this spectacular, especially seeing as it's the last one in the series
I still like the first one most so far though, even though DK was brilliant. Tom Hardy is a great actor, not too sure if he 'fits' Bane, but he has managed to fit into many different roles so I'm sure he'll do well in this. I can't wait

Put a luchador's mask on his head and then tell me that's not Bane.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises: Bane and Catwoman Confirmed
I've done a bit of reading on the characters (since I know very little about everyone in Batman), and from what I can make out Bane only has a few interesting things about him, and the vast, vast majority of his character just wouldn't fit in Nolan's universe, where it seems the supernatural is a definite no-no (deciding against Poison Ivy in an earlier film, for example).
So I can only assume Nolan must have had a good reason to go against his rules when making Bane. And as Bane main claim to fame seems to be that he's the closest anyone's ever coming to killing the Bat, I guess that reason's going to big.
Nolan seems more interested in exploring how a vigilante would fit in a world as close to an approximation of our own as he can manage. And ultimately the vigilante will never live happily after. I think it would be a very fitting end to the saga if Batman were to die; no loose ends, no way WB can extend his trilogy, and it would be huge.
Or he might just come close to killing him before Batman recovers and takes him down. I know which version WB would be more happy with, but I also know which one I'd prefer.

?

when Heath Ledger was cast as the Joker? Hardy will, I'm sure, surprise and impress to a similar degree.
