No response
Basically, I've applied for several PhD studentships; Oxford, Bristol, UCL, Imperial, Durham and Warwick.
I got an offer from Warwick pretty much immediately (I go there so figures) but I have heard literally NOTHING from the other places. I got the generic your in this round from Oxford, but that's IT. Not even an acknowledgement email to be like 'we have your references, we either love/hate you, have an interview/go away you fool' etc.
I'm just a little bit fed up! Has anyone else had this problem? -
Re: No responseHow long have you been waiting? Some departments do take longer to respond, depending on how many applications they get and how well organised they are, but there's really nothing you can do about it.(Original post by zooop)

Re: No responseSince the middle of november :s, I know they take their time, but it's getting a bit ridiculous now. I've even tried emailing/ringing but nothing(Original post by hobnob)

Re: No responseAs in the ONLY emails that I have received are:(Original post by goewyn)
That doesn't sound like that long...
What do you mean, 'nothing'? Surely they could tell you your application had been received and was under consideration if you called the right numbers?
1) the oxford cycle one
2) generic person A has uploaded a reference
Apart from that I mean literally nothing, no your application is under consideration, nothing. -
Re: No responseBut you already know about the approximate time frame because you know which gathered field you applied for. There's even a little timetable on the website. The department has probably only just made its decisions and you'll hear about the outcome of your application soon(ish). What good would a 'your application is under consideration'-email do?(Original post by zooop)

Re: No responseI don't just mean Oxford here. It's not really the one I'm complaining about, it's all the others.(Original post by hobnob)

Re: No responseBut again: what good does an acknowledgement email actually do? I've always thought of them as fairly useless, to be honest. All they do is tell you that your application is on somebody's desk, that's all.(Original post by zooop)

Re: No responseAnd I assumed that if you were so frantic you would have called them for an acknowledgement.(Original post by zooop)

Otherwise, just wait.
