Aber for politics not IR?

Almost everything I see on aber is about its IR (international politics) course. Whats the university like for just standard politics?

Thanks

It's exactly the same department and because of the modular degree structure, you'll be picking from the same group of modules as IR specialists but will have a different core module.

In the first year, pretty much everyone in the department does the same 6 modules (for the past 3 years it's been Intro to International Politics, Intro to the Third World in IP, Revolution & Continuity in Political Philosophy, European Politics and War, Strategy and Intelligence). You can opt out of certain modules but they're good for getting an all round grounding.

In years 2 and 3 you have pretty much free reign over which modules you do, so long as you do your core module (which for the straight politics degree is I believe 'Political Theory'). You'll find there are a few courses on domestic politics and non-IR theoretical politics but most of the department's focus is international. I love IR and dislike learning about the nitty gritty of domestic politics so it suits me fine but if you love electoral systems etc it might not be the best place.
