Why bother when it's all pointless?

Ok so basically I am an A2 student, hoping to go on the study medicine. I know what I want to do with my life and what I want to be learning so revising for maths and physics and sometimes even chemistry just gets so boring and pointless I find it hard to motivate myself.

I accept that Im learning some useful stuff. I also accept there is no point complaining and that I have to get AAA regardless of how motivated I am. MY question is does anyone have any motivation techniques? Ways I can get past how boring I find my subjects, because even if I find them boring I've got to make the grades.

I'm expecting many 'suck it up bitch' replies, which is fine and I plan to do so, but any actual motivational methods would be good. I dunno, would meditation be one? Would just telling myself if I don't do it I will fail at life. How do you give YOURSELF a carrot and a stick?
I literally only think about results day, and how much more work i would have to put in if i don't put in the work now!

Try using small rewards and incentives to help you through your courses. Little things like going out with friends after completing an assignment, or watching a favourite TV programme after revising a topic. Following this idea would definitely help keep you going till the summer, when you can celebrate properly

^^^ Exactly this

A night in with pizza, a chocolate cake, if you have partners/parents ask them to chip in, just do anything.

It's hard to get motivated but education is a large part of many peoples futures - mine and yours included; just make the most of the opportunity, many people in this world would love to have free education but can't afford it in their countries.

Good luck

I empathise, I really do. The problem though is that even at degree level you still have to study things that you don't want to. For example, I've always been interested in history/archaeology, back when I was at school everything else seemed pointless and bored me out of my brain. True, now I do nothing except archaeology (and bits of history), but there are still certain compulsory modules that I have to do which are boring and nothing to do with my actual archaeological interests (eg, theory and history of archaeology, archaeological drawing, etc), so in that sense you never get away from studying certain things that bore you to death. Similarly, I expect you'll have to study certain parts of medicine that you have no interest in specialising in?

I'm not motivating myself towards A-Levels, but I am motivating myself towards winning the World Championships / Cup.

I go over and over my lines on the local fell. I practice, and practice, and practice and when I think I've practiced enough, I do it again.

You've just kind of got to get on, set yourself a path and follow it. Its easier for me as I'm training in the sport I've dedicated my life too and feel absolutely happiest doing, and I gather that its harder for you to call revision the same.
Still, just try your hardest to set yourself a line and follow it. And just keep at it. Revise like mad and just accept the fact you're going to be spending a lot of time doing it.

Look at it this way: Its 5 months, or so, max out of your life. The rewards will be worth it in the long run, you've just got to put in the wrench time now, bro. :dontknow:

Good luck, though!
