Don't read if you have yet to finish the game and want to avoid big spoilers.
Is anyone else feeling absolutely gutted with the endings? Sure, Shepard dying adds a dramatic effect I suppose, but Bioware should've at least let you decide if Shepard gets to live or not. What's so popular about Mass Effect is that the choices you make change events in the game, but no, you got no choice on how Shepard ends up at the end of ME3. Although I think there's one ending where Shepard lives but it's still a pretty crap ending.
What's heartbreaking is that the Normandy ends up stranded on an unknown planet and your crew are left there, and can't get back (as the relays were destroyed). So even if your Shepard lives, he/she will never see his/ her crew again (Tali, Garrus, Joker etc). What happens to the crew? Do they starve do death? Do they get rescued? No one knows and it makes me sad that all these characters you grew fond of and form relationships with end up like this, and we never find out what happens to them (unless they release a DLC to explain what has happened, doubtful though). So yea, don't expect to be having a celebration with your alien buddies, or walking off into the sunset with your love interest, because you will be disappointed.
I've been so emotionally involved with Mass Effect and its characters since the first game, and now I feel all those good times of doing side quests, getting to know the crew, getting a love interest, have been pointless. Other people have said they don't see the point in playing the trilogy again, as they now know it all leads to what is probably the most depressing ending to game history.
I'll probably still play ME1 and 2 but may just ignore 3 in the future. Don't get me wrong, 3 is good but the ending really gets to me. I also don't see how anyone would want to buy any future ME3 DLCs, as they will not make a difference to the outcome of the game. The only DLC I could imagine getting is one that'll provide a good ending where everyone lives and carries on with their lives, then I may consider getting the other ones. But until then, I'm not making anymore ME3 purchases.
To give such a lazy, bad ending to one of the most amazing games is, to be honest, a big slap in the face. Making the crew vanish and leave them to their fate (probably death) is pathetic. The characters were amazing and deserved a better ending. Just because Bioware want to start fresh with Mass effect 4 it doesn't mean Shepard and everyone else can't have an optional happy ending, instead of getting killed off (I think they got killed off, may not be true).
Major trolling by Bioware.
Am I going to buy their future releases? I really don't know.

Completely know how you feel. Finished it yesterday and it was just a bit.. disappointing. I also really don't like that in reality, you need to play multilayer to get 'best ending' or farm for EVERYTHING in single player. I collected most stuff that I came across (maybe 4 citadel missions not done) and still only had 3.4k EMS..

Just completed the game.
Come on bioware wtf was that? Really what the hell was the point? I loved the game despite earlier not being so keen. But I really did love it. The story was rich the choices really seemed to matter. Then an ending that makes the rest of the series completely irrelevant. Feel like I wasted the 20 hours or so I put in. Will naturally play again but ergh that ending was pathetic and a huge let down.
On a related note (as in, a reason my EMS was lower) - I was so pissed off at how pivotal not selling Legion in ME2 was, can't achieve peace with the Geth/Quarians without him - Tali ended up committing suicide for me.. :'(
Oh, and a question to anyone else who finished!
Why on earth does, once finishing, it throw you back 2 hours or so of gameplay to before taking out the Illusive man's base? I guess it makes sense in that it's the last point where the universe is 'normal' but it still feels wrong having those 2 hours just not count for anything...

Feel sorta empty about the ending.
The fact that disappointment will result no matter which way you go, and these 3 choices are all it came too. I chose synthesis as I got 2800 but died to do it. Superb game but the whole Earth section annoyed me in general. I can see why Bioware chose to make the decision though and make it become a talking point.
Edit: Just looking at the other endings and can understand the backlash, all this investment into the ending and no matter what we get a shoddy one. It just looked like it was copy and pasted from the ending of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Hopefully Bioware can grow some balls and admit their mistake and release some free patch/dlc to fix it, otherwise it has spoiled a fabulous series.
649 pages of backlash on the bioware forums. Surely they're taking notice and will fix it.

Tbh it should have just ended for credits when Shepard and Anderson were staring at Earth laying down. I was actually expecting it then but ****ing Hackett had to say the Crucible wasn't working. I'd have been perfectly satisfied with that ending
In fact, if Bioware do nothing to correct the damn ending I'll tell myself that's what happened.
