1. How would you describe healthy islets of Langerhans?
2. How do healthy and diseased islets differ? Diseased islet= insulitis, where T lymphocytes are attcking the beta cells.
Thanks for your help.

Healthy Islets of langerhans would be those that response correctly to blood glucose levelse i.e. when hyperglycaemic- insulin secreted from beta cells, when hypoglycaemic - glucagon secreted from alpha cells.

Thus I would say that diseased islets would be those that are not able to respond accurately to the varying sugar levels or are not sensitive enough.

Sorry I wasn't specific enough- I meant in respect of a micrograph showing the healthy and diseased islets=> I've found out that there is 'lymphocytic infiltration' in a diseased islet, with insulitis, in other words the surrounding pancreatic cells are merging into the islet- it doesn't have a regular structure anymore.
Thanks for you help anyway- any other suggestions?
