Re: Football Manager Society IIIm not quite at that stage, but Ive only lost 3 of my last 132, which included a 89 game unbeaten streak. I then lost 3 games on the bounce out of nowhere, and now im on a 40 game unbeaten run. There's been a few close calls though.(Original post by jam277)
Yeah I can't argue about that, FM11 my chelsea team was probably the best ever team in football manager. Unbeaten for 3 seasons, after liverpool won the league and league cup in 2020 and I won the rest, I just won every trophy since. My second team was good enough to beat anyone if i wanted too. I sold neymar and the other big name players like marcelo too and replaced them with a 16 year old from southampton and liverpool's reserve left back who I wanted for blackpool.
The whole team was just too lethal.Last edited by CB91; 03-12-2011 at 22:40. -
Re: Football Manager Society III thought so, I always had that theory lol.(Original post by marcusmerehay)
Suazo's one of those players with awesome stats because of his international exploits but cheap because he plays for a rubbish club.
Similar things can be said of Guillermo Ochoa or Celso Borges on older games - it's most common with the North/Central American players (Brek Shea for instance is a bargain).
Brazillians, mexicans, peruvians, americans are the main people you can get for like 1million and they turn into world beaters.
Romario the right back, he's one of the best when it comes to that. He turned from being a young 17 year old liability to my best right back in my real sociedad team that got 3rd in la liga and won europa league and copa del ray.

Re: Football Manager Society III think you start to get on that stage when you're around 5-10 years in the game so you get all the regens. Seeing as I had a striker who was probably better than messi and ronaldo's best stats merged together who only costed 15 million, it makes sense why I was able to do that.(Original post by CB91)

The amount of close calls I had was immense, the 90 minute last second equalisers were probably the cause of most of my draws, I never really slipped a lead. -
Re: Football Manager Society III play FM10 and you've got Ochoa, Zezinho, Hernanes, Paulo Henrique, Galvan, Barreto, Shea and Marino on there for starters.(Original post by jam277)

Re: Football Manager Society II
Currently completely rebuilding my team, just got some 19yr old Irish kid from Cork who has phenomenal stats for league one, only wants 800 a week too! This is definitely my favourite part of the game, finding and training the gems up! Depending on the strength of my team, I might even be looking at top10 this season. We'll have to see.

Re: Football Manager Society IIGonzalo barreto, he's a great player, paulo henrique's good too, I like searching for talent though, I play football manager like wenger/guardiola, will get a bargain and will never overpay for a player like ferguson does, more on the guardiola side since i'm not as scared to spend money and will still drive a bargain for a top class player.(Original post by marcusmerehay)

Re: Football Manager Society II
This game really ****s me off sometimes.
It's the same thing that happens every time - you go on a fantastic unbeaten run, no one can stop you, your strikers score for fun and then suddenly in a match you should win easily..... You have a horror show.
Conceded 4 scored none (13th match of the season, current stats are 34 scored and 0 conceded up to that....), LB sent off, GK booked for walking out of the box with the ball (wtf? Also sure that's a red normally), 6 players booked and a long term injury....
I could understand if it's an unlucky match or whatever, but it happens on every save game at some point - you do great then suddenly, without explanation, you lose. Massively.
I know people say it's over-confidence but there's no way you should lose so badly to a lesser team, with so many decisions against you, in every single save-game. Whether it takes 4 matches or 4 seasons, it always happens.
They really need to sort it out and make it more realistic. I wouldn't see City suddenly losing 4-0 to Forest with a full strength team because of "overconfidence". -
Re: Football Manager Society IIIt's happened to Leeds so many times IRL, it just isn't unrealistic. If anything, the game is too easy and let's us go on unrealistically long unbeaten records and winning records. It's very rare that you see a start as good as Man City's this year. United were leading the Prem with 31 points from 15 games this time last season, for example.(Original post by neillya1)

Re: Football Manager Society IINo, a yellow's right in that instance. A keeper should only be given a red card for handling outside his area if he's done so to prevent a goal or a clear goalscoring opportunity (e.g. if he and a striker are chasing after a loose ball, and he reaches out and punches it to avoid the striker heading it over him and into the empty net behind him)(Original post by neillya1)

Re: Football Manager Society II
Yeah, I got bored after 3 seasons of the Pentagon challenge, I kept on being in charge of 'B' clubs so my signings kept on being interfered with and moved around - I didn't like it one bit.
Started a new non-League challenge, as a Sunday League experience manager I started unemployed before taking over Worcester City in the BSS.
They were strong favourites for relegation but a number of shrewd signings in Erwin Sak, Jason Norville and Wayne Graves have left me in second place after 28-odd games.
Got thrashed 6-1 in the FA Trophy by Workington, but I'd put out a youth team because I got through to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup after knocking out both Northampton and Notts County after replays.

Re: Football Manager Society II
The Roma board are weird. They gave me a 4 mil transfer-budget to begin with, and a wage-budget that just about covered current spendings (I was about 1 K over the budget). I quickly spent most of the transfer budget on Domenico Criscito, who I felt would be very good backup next season (when he joins us after his loan spell at Genoa) and a first-team contender thereafter. So several games into the season, I needed to offer Aquilani the new contract he was pining for. At first, I told him to wait until the end of the season, but after a couple of outstanding performances, I asked the board they might raise the wage-budget a bit; I thought I'd minimize the deficit. They said they would change the structure slightly, and gave me an extra... 100K/week.

A little later, they said the financial situation had improved, and could offer me a little more money for transfers. So they gave me... 23 mil.
Which is great, but a little confusing. Then again, the economic situation for this month looks spectacular - a profit of about 4 mil, somehow - so perhaps. -
Re: Football Manager Society IIOuch. Reminds me of the 06-07 Eredivisie when Ajax won 2-0 on the last day, went top, then PSV won 5-1 and won the title by +1 goal difference. Pretty cruel. 1 goal less and Ajax would have been champions on goals scored aswell.(Original post by marcusmerehay)
Lost the Blue Square South title to Chelmsford on goals scored.
Made it through the play-offs comfortably though.

Re: Football Manager Society II
Finished my fourth season, relatively comfortably in league 1. I only wanted to avoid relegation whilst I sorted out my squad, had a complete overhaul so I barely won before Xmas. I also lost my star striker 2 months before the end of the season so I didn't score much. Snapped up some decent free transfers and free'd up my wage budget some more. So difficult when you only have 27£k a week to spend.

Re: Football Manager Society IITry some random leagues you've never played before. That might help put the spark back in(Original post by randomer1122)
I'm struggling to get into FM12! I really want to get a good game going but at the moment it is just not happening
Totti got top honours with a 30-yard volley against Siena, while Vucinic got the other two.
