Re: TSR Tennis Society
Didn't occur to me that the Olympics will be played on a different surface...
In 2008 at Beijing, it was played on DecoTurf - which is the same as the surface for the US open. Think I automatically assumed it would also be on the blue surface.
But obviously, as everyone else with a brain will have realised, it's going to be played on grass, essentially a Wimbledon mark II with players not wearing traditional white but more likely the countries they are representing.
With the ranking change, I guess Federer would most likely meet Murray and Djokovic would face Nadal - assuming the favourites go through (I'm assuming that it will be the same as ranked events and not random draw?)
Federer must go in as the favourite for the tournament then? -
Re: TSR Tennis SocietyIn tennis, they usually put seeds 1 and 2 in opposite halves, but then 3 can go into either half, with 4 then going into the half without 3.(Original post by Zerforax)

Re: TSR Tennis SocietyI thought it was always 1 & 4 in one side of the draw and 2 & 3 in the other side?(Original post by Chief Wiggum)

Re: TSR Tennis SocietyNope, Federer and Djokovic always seem to play each other in the semis anyway, and they were ranked 1 and 3 for some time.(Original post by Zerforax)

Re: TSR Tennis SocietyNo, that's a common misconception though.(Original post by Zerforax)

Re: TSR Tennis SocietyYeah, the semifinal pairings have placed Djokovic and Federer in the same half an awful lot of times. I'd just say it's luck of the draw, but some people would say it's rather suspicious.(Original post by TopHat)
I've always thought there must be a fix with that. The tournaments are supposed to be allocated randomly, obeying certain rules (1 can't meet 2 before the final, 3 can't meet 4 before the final, etc), but I swear that Murray-Nadal happens way too often for that to be true. -
Re: TSR Tennis SocietyI'd say it's because tournament-schedulers know how much money a Fed/Rafa final is worth. It happens just too often to seem luck of the draw to me.(Original post by Chief Wiggum)

Re: TSR Tennis Society
Nadal seems to be Murray's favourite opponent out of the three on a hard court, but he can't get a set off him on clay or grass.
I reckon Murray might beat Novak if they played at Wimbledon, Murray can push him really close on the hard courts anyway.
Federer just seems to outsmart Murray in the key matchups even though Andy has the game to beat him. -
Re: TSR Tennis SocietyThinking of the same thing as well. Apparently theres still some tennis tickets unsold, not sure if they're the ridiculously high priced ones though.(Original post by D-Box)
Anyone here got Olympic tickets for the tennis? I applied but only got football. -
Re: TSR Tennis Society
What fellow pros say about Roger.
... as expected, but the "Top Comment" struck a chord.
Pete needs a new goal. -
Re: TSR Tennis Society
Laura Robson has just been given an Olympic squad place because Petra Martic has withdrawn.

Re: TSR Tennis SocietyNot sure if you're aware of this thread but if not: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=2052372(Original post by jhuntley93)
keothavong took 1st set against wozniacki, baltacha won in 2, murray's 1 set all
You can talk about all the Olympic tennis you want and you may get a response since there will be little activity in here. -
Re: TSR Tennis SocietyThere are possible doubts over the US open as well.(Original post by RtGOAT)
