Re: Warwick Freshers 2011Have you check out The Warwick Accommodation Thread? There's a guide at the front with reviews and photos of the halls, along with other things that might be useful to help you make your decision.(Original post by D191987)
Hi all, I've firmed Warwick for chemistry
I'm also currently on a gap year, good to know so many are doing likewise!
Like some others I've seen on here, I'm not sure which order of preference to put the accommodation. I'm opting for Arthur Vick, Bluebell, Rootes, Westwood and maybe Lakeside if allowed. I'd like to put Arthur Vick first, but then it would mean lugging all my stuff back home after each term.. Not sure what to make of Bluebell though, the place seems a bit of a mystery at the moment, although at least its brand-new!
I'd go into the thread asking yourself a few questions:
What length let do I need?
What's my budget?
Does location factor into this?
Do I need an en suite?
What's the social life at each hall?
Am I OK with high sharing ratios?
Additionally, be aware of other factors, like age of halls, quality/size of rooms and kitchens/presence of lounges, baths or showers.
As for AV and the other 30 week lets, yes it is a load of effort to pack 6 times during the year, you get a lockable cupboard to put stuff in but you do have to spend an evening at some point moving everything (even from the kitchen) out/into a safe place. But that's the cost of getting a 30 week let. Does that outweigh the pros of living there?
Bluebell- we got some photos (artist's impressions) of the halls, plus a floor plan. and during the day time you can have a look at the webcam - it's looking pretty good now.
Oh, and yes you will be able to put both Bluebell and Lakeside down

Re: Warwick Freshers 2011I went for:(Original post by mack3)
What accommodation did people go for?
I went:
Rootes
Whitefields
Westwood
Tocil
Cryfield
Jack Martin
Whitefields
Cryfield
Bluebell (just to avoid being stuck in Westwood!)
Rootes
Tocil
Really, really want JM! I'm such a cleanfreak I'm not sure how I'd cope in shared...! How come you only put 5? x -

Hello! This is a bit off the accommodation topic, but are any 2011 freshers interested in joining the drama society? I've heard good things about it and I'm hoping to get involved.

HEEEEEEEY fellow drama-er! What do you prefer doing more, the classics or more contemporary kind of theatre? (I am a dabbler in both, myself.)

Re: Warwick Freshers 2011I'll be reading Law at Warwick, and I'm more of a dabbler, but the productions that I loved acting in the most are contemporary plays like 'Whose Life Is It Anyway' and stuff like that. I mostly do school drama in Thailand (where I live) so I'm dying to get out to England to watch more theatre and get involved.(Original post by goodboy4444)

I think the ChemBio course takes in 20 for each year, and on the open day over Christmas, I was the only one in th group of 80 or so there for ChemBio
Chemical Biology is the 4 year Masters version of BioMedical Chemistry, and I know of three others who have accepted offers for that, so I'm not alone
.. Is yours 3 or 4 years? Also, when I went for an open day at York, the Chemistry with Management was fairly popular, so it may just be the university being picky as opposed to not many people applying
I have applied for accommodation: Arthur Vick, Lakeside, Tocil, Whitefields, Cryfield and Rootes (in that order). How about yourself?
