yeah, you can buy one, you just can't call them a taxi or pick people up and pretend your a taxi driver.

Stephen Fry famously has a black cab and uses it to drive in the bus lanes.

I am not sure why anybody would want one though, especialy the old FX4s, they are noisy, unsafe comparted to modern cars, expensive to run, they rust badly, they have a horrible leaf spring type suspension etc etc.

You could probably get one for free down any London scrappy so no unless it was covered in gold leaf.

As far as I'm aware, only licensed taxis can drive in bus lanes, so no. But I still think they're pretty cool, though apparently you need to keep the rear doors locked because people think it's a real taxi and try to get in.

That would be awesome! But probably a lot of money to maintain.
Look on eBay though, they are under £500 often.

That's stupid, also you could get into all kinds of bother with the new "licensed black" cab signs...

Err cameras, the police etc. An unlicenced taxi is very obvious, you can tell by the lack of taxi licence plate.

But Stephen Fry's isn't a licensed cab, and he makes a point of saying he drives in the bus lanes with it - so whats the deal with that?
