I looked into that but I thought they wouldn't be many freshers as it is a quite a while away from the main site.

I'm living at St Peter's Court at the moment. It's pretty much all freshers, with a few Erasmus students.

Having access to both the free Jubilee Hopper bus (5-7minutes walk away) and the free St Peter's Court bus can make it quicker to get to where you need to be sometimes, rather than walking halfway across campus every morning. Also means you're not that cut off, and they run til late. Plus its so much easier to get to town, i.e. you can walk or take the free bus instead of paying as you would if you were on campus, and it makes it cheaper getting back from a night out in town.

In my own opinion, based on observing my friends in halls on campus, they tend to have a much more isolated uni experience and rarely leave campus except in a cab to a club and then back again. Being self catered and a bit further from campus means you don't spend all day every day in the same place. You can wander to a cafe or town with friends, go to the supermarket, generally have a bit more to explore. It's not all bad.

Plus SPC is mixed with Trent students, so you meet some really different and interesting people (and can sneak into their SU bar with them, which is much better than ours).

Any questions about SPC just ask.

Hey I'm looking at derby and I was wondering if there is like a 'type' of people? Or what the atmosphere and events are like there? Or at other halls if you know?

There's not a 'type' as far as i know there seems to be a good mix of people from what i have experienced. Atmosphere is good and there are lots of events going on. Most seem to be club nights/bar crawls but there are also hall sports teams and occasional events organised by other socs like the Christian Union happen from time to time.

Oh that's cool was a bit worried it would be the other way round. Sounds pretty good though, I mean I wouldnt really want to be stuck on UP site all day every day but I wouldnt want to be too far away. Sounds like it's not though which is good.

I'm pretty surprised at this too. I thought Trent students would probably segergate themselves from NottsUni students and it will be all awkward.

How big ( or small for that matter ) would you say the rooms are compared to say those on Jubile Campus ( those are the only rooms i saw when I went there ). Or compared to other accomodation sites.

I've applied to BGP.
I have an offer to an en-suite.

Pro and con on each application depend on what you want though really.

That's what I'm worried about! I don't want to be left with the worst accommodation :/ plus I still need to look around them all so I have a proper idea.

that so good. but don't it matter if u apply through this instead of the uni? and can i still pick my other 'back up' accommodation on the uni website?

but yh, does it make a diff if u apply for this without using uni of notts website?
and dya have to firm notts to apply?

What?...lol

I think what you mean is if you can apply for accommodation through UPP as well as applying through uni? no?
If that's the case then, the answer is no. If you want "back-up" choice, you'd be better off applying through uni.
And no it doesn't matter if you apply through the website or through university but obviously only apply through the website if that's the accommodation you want.

You don't have to apply through university of Nottingham website, if you don't want to. I didn't.

You do have to firm Nottingham before applying.

Sorry, I sound so confusing lol. I meant, say if I decide to apply for BGP via UPP, when accommodation opens on the 1st of march, can I still apply for other places besides BGP + apply for BGP via UPP at the same time?

You could but you will make things very confusing for the accommodation people.
Plus, there would be no point since they will offer you a room anyway.

Did anybody else have problems choosing, mine kept coming up with

Error: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Procedure or function WebInsAccomPrefUGNew expects parameter @BlockId, which was not supplied.

everytime I kept trying to choose a choice. Then I went to my other laptop and it worked straight away. Just seeing if it was my laptop or everyone in general?

Yeah I encoutered the same problem. I E-mailed them and they said it was a technical fault. I tried it again, ( like 3 hours later ) and it works now.

I want to apply for accommodation but not sure whether to go for Broadgate, St Peter's Court, or Raleigh Park? I want to be in a vibrant place and feel involved in the uni.

I've applied for nursing so will be in the medical centre, but when I visited someone said Broadgate is good as you get to walk through campus to the medical centre and still see all the uni- any advice?

im also gonna be studying management at notts and i want to live at university park. dont know if youve been and looked around UP as well as jubilee, or if youve walked between the 2. its really not that far, only about 10 minute walk. you can see how close they are on google maps or something.

im going for catered partly because its (supposedly) a lot better for socialising and partly because im just too lazy to cook for myself everyday.

i want to live in either Cripps or Hugh Stewart halls as ive heard they have a pretty good rivalry going on, or Rutland as they seem to have a rivalry with everyone else. not sure what room type i want yet, whichever will get me into one of those halls i guess

I'd go to SPC if you are in first year.
They tend to be more involved with social stuff.

When I was there I didn't walk I used the hoper bus. But the walking distance sounds alright though. I'm looking to bring my bike aswell ( not sure yet ). By the way you can't apply for certain halls this year though so it'll have to be a gamble with where you'll be placed if you pick accomodation at UP campus.

I get the impression that Maonr Villages is for retunring undergraduates. You'll be better picking SPC.
