No, the last thing we need is to give a corrupted state more power.

Why?
What if someone did a horrific crim e.g murder ( burning a house with a family of 3 inside 2 children and a adult)
I know in the UK they will give "life sentencing"
I NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL, UNDERSTAND, THAT WHEN A JUDGE SAYS "LIFE" IT DOES NOT MEAN LIFE.

What if the man/woman is innocent but proven guilty? You've gone and killed an innocent person, haven't you?

Yes definitely. What's the point in wasting money keeping scumbags in jail when they could be put down.

No! To quote Epicurus, “Death is nothing to us, since when we are, death has not come, and when death has come, we are not".
Death is nothing to the dead man, therefore it is not a punishment.

(Personally, the worst criminals could do with a little bit of torture....but that's just the sadist in me coming out.)

(This is all based on the US, thought it would be best way to compare) Its been recorded that in New York it takes $23 million to execute a prisoner - and also "Prisons cost taxpayers more than $32 billion a year. Every year that an inmate spends in prison costs $22,000. . The cost of a life term averages $1.5 million. http://www.heartsandminds.org/prisons/facts.htm

There is also the point that it is not a proven deterrent as such - the 1996 Amnesty report showed no link between the introduction of the death penalty and a fall in murder/etc, As well as relatively more recent study (2005), as i qoute

"We find that more aggressive capital punishment regimes have higher murder
rates, even after controlling for several deterrence and socioeconomic factors. In fact, we
show that the amount by which the homicide rate is exceeded increases monotonically
with the aggressiveness of the regime, with the greatest difference arising in the most
aggressive states. Nor is there evidence that the increased use of capital punishment over
the past 20 years has had a discernable deterrent effect" (http://www.chrisherbst.net/PDFs/C._H...ment_Paper.pdf)

Edit: To justify why it is so expensive

The reason it's so expensive is to make sure that the people they execute are actually guilty; (http://www.deathpenalty.org/article.php?id=42)

And theres no point saying that the judicial process is flawless, as of (http://www.americanbar.org/publications/human_rights_magazine_home/irr_hr_fall97_deathpen.html) - 127 people were actually found innocent whilst on death row since 1973 (http://deathpenaltyusa.blogspot.com/2008/04/innocent-people-on-death-row-its-no.html), so the expense is justified (that is, if the death penalty was ever to be used)

Why?

(1) inevitable miscarriages of justice (2) it is barbaric (3) gives too much power to the state (4) it is revenge, not justice (5) could make martyrs of those who commit certain crimes e.g. Muslim terrorists (6) the death penalty, contrary to what a lot of people think, is not cheap (7) it isn't a deterrent (8) life punishment is a more strict punishment then quickly killing someone and et cetera.

life sentencing

That's a separate issue.

Well clearly they are doing it wrong... All they need is an executioner to go in and shoot him in the head. Do you think when the death penalty was still in place here it cost a fortune to hang or behead someone? I doubt it. It should be a very cost effective process and will save tax payers thousands of pounds every year.

You can never prove someone is 100% guilty. It's theoretically impossible. There is always that 0.1% chance they are innocent.

You dont know whether they'll be killing more people, and since when is 10 years the sentence for murder?

Well not exacly 10 years. I mean they don't get enough punishment at all "life sentence" its not life sentence its not enough years, it probably would be reduced for good behaviour which I think is ridiculous.
No. I don't think they should bring back death penalty.

This is because:

1) Someone had already said that the person might be innocent.
2) I think it's more painful to live in jail, not having a chance to go out shopping or hang out with friends, than to just die...

I would rather torture the person by just putting them in jail
