Thanks for the advice, I think I am going to choose Prospect Point, I really cba to take the bus everyday, although I still wonder how am I going to manage with cooking. I will probably end up living on milk and cereals as my main meal
is the bus/distance seriously your only problem with living in normal halls?
you will have to live miles away in your second year.

Not necessarily, I lived off Smithdown Road in my upper years and walked to Uni everyday, took about 20 mins. Obviously, if you live up in Allerton then bus is your only option.

Not if they live in Kenny they don't.
I've got two girlfriends living together in a flat 15 mins away from uni, and they pay like 300 pounds each, utilities included. They say it looks really good and it is central, so I am not worrying about living far during my 2nd and 3rd year

Hey  I've been looking at Prospect Point too, I wanted somewhere on campus cause it would be so much easier to get to lectures and stuff but everyone seems to say not to live on campus, how come? xx

Thats the 3 I'm narrowed down to as well! Love the look of Opal Court and Vine Court but there that bit more expensive, so I'm leaning towards Prsopect Point. My only worry with Prospect Point is that I've read that it's not very first year undergrady, its more 2nd and 3rd year students. But from what I've read on this thread there seems to be quite a bit of interest from 1st year undergrads too! I've applied for Radiotherapy so will have early morning lectures, and although the off campus halls sound good for socialising, I really don't want to have to drag myself out of bed at the crack of dawn to catch a bus to uni!

From what I've read, apparently most first year undergrads go to the off campus halls so it's better for socialising and meeting new people. Whereas more 2nd and 3rd year students stay on campus, but wherever you go, you're going to meet people so I'm not too put off by it

Opal court is my favourite! LOVE the fact there is a gym there. I wasn't going to live in at first since i live local to Liveprool but i really want to give it a go!

I've just submitted my application just then for accomodation!
1st prospect point
2nd Opal Court
3rd Vine Court

Hope i dont get Vine court though, it's so expensive. Does the loan cover all of our accomodation costs?

Anyone know when we hear from them?
I love Opal Court too! I visited their website though and it says it's already fully booked and there's just spaces for LJMU students.. this is the link here if you wanna have a look: http://www.opalstudents.com/student-accommodation/liverpool/opal-court-ocliv/booking-and-prices/

So I'm torn between Prospect Point and Vine Court.. would rather stay in Vine Court but really put off by how expensive it is.
Any postgrads get an invite for accommodations? I want prospect point ensuite! Hope there's a room. I was only given 3 options and Vine Court is terribly expensive :s-smilie:

Does anyone know what Roscoe & Gladstone (R&G) is like? I put it down as my third choice, what's like compared to Derby & Rathbone, or any other halls?
Muchos appreciate x

It depends on how much loan you get, and what accommodation you go for. I worked out that around £5,000 a year is just over £120 a week for a 40 week year, so it may be possible that you'll need extra financial help

Marybone gives priority to John Moores University students, so you'd be lucky to get in there as a University of Liverpool student.

Unite (not United) is very expensive and a lot of the halls aren't in a particularly nice location, but they are en-suite and not too far from the University.

Prospect point has very few rooms for Uni of Liverpool students, as some of the rooms are assigned to staff at the hospital.

Have you tried the University halls up at Greenbank/Carnatic, as there are some en-suite rooms there, in addition some of the halls on the university campus have one bathroom to two rooms, so practically en suite

Hey, my ex actually stayed in Unite accomodation for his first year and they were DREADFUL. I'd strongly discourage anyone from considering them if you are :frown:

Just out of interest, did you choose the 3 or 4 year course for your combined honours degree on Student Finance?

3 years as that's the length of my course!

Thats my order of accommodation too! Same with Vine Court, I put it last because there wasn't really another I wanted to apply to, but it's far too expensive for me ! At the moment I'm only getting a £2500ish loan from Student Finance but I am doing Radiotherapy which is a NHS funded course so I think they might be giving me a loan too, but I'm not sure how it all works yet.

Might see you in prospect point in September!
Does anyone know whether you can change your preferences for accommodation? I think I want to swap Vine Court for a different one but I can't seem to find a way to do so!
