I think it was a good decision to swap to D&R. The bus is 15 mins, at peek times the bus queue at Greenbank can be bad but it's never extraordinarily long. And there are plans to have buses that start at Greenbank in the very near future to stop the problem altogether. (the issue is that the buses currently start at Carnatic and by the time they get to Greenbank they're mostly full). I really feel that the 15 minute bus journey is MORE than worth it for the student experience you get. There have been people in the last few months moving from on-campus halls (self-catered, en-suite) into Rankin where I live (catered and sharing bathrooms!), just because they couldn't hack staying on campus anymore. A guy in my practical skills group has just moved out of his room in prospect point and into his girlfriends flat because he was living with 4 Chinese girls who never left their rooms.

I don't doubt people do enjoy their time in on-campus halls, it depends what you want from your halls experience. But in my opinion you miss out on a lot by not being at either Greenbank or Carnatic.

If anyone has any qs about accomm or liverpool as a city then feel free to ask!x

Well, I was thinking private accomodation. I am really trying to avoid uni accomodation. I've found some great deals online from this Liverpool Student Houses, rent a room around £40 a week plus bills. Almost sounds too good to be true They want ABB, to include chem and bio. I think I can manage it.
Anyway, nice to meet you, potential "classmate". So, how about you- accomodation and offer?
Why are you trying to avoid uni accommodation?
I do IB so I need 6,5,5 at HL and 33 overall.

They're all very similar. All bathrooms are shared with around 4-5 people, except Dale which is between 2 people but they only have shower heads in their baths as oppose to actual showers. The sharing isn't bad though as cleaners come daily.

Lady Mountford is single sex corridors with 12 people per corridor. Rankin have 22 people per corridor - which I really like as it gives you the chance to meet LOADS of people! Not sure about Dale or McNair. One thing about McNair is that it has a shorter lease than the others so you have to move all your stuff out over easter, which might be annoying if you live a long way away, I know we were all glad we didn't have to move out just to move back in again. It is probably the best positioned hall though, close to Carnatic house (where the bar, dinner hall and reception (where you get your post from) is), the cashpoint, bus stop and guild shop.

All the halls are laid out in the blocks - either 3 or 4. then in floors which are laid out in big squares - bedrooms are around the outer edge of the square and toilets, kitchen and laundry on the inner bits. Most kitchens are basic, except Lady Mountford ones as they have ovens and hobs! and obviously the self catered Dale ones do too.

I've rambled hahaaa, you'll love it whichever one you end up in though!x

I guess I'm just sick and tired of boarding school and the uni halls resemble this experience up to a point ;D

if you want to be ensuite and uncatered, then yea d&r would prob be best.

but as it's 1st come 1st serve i really doubt u'll get it even though you are unconditional.
Yeah I've decided to make that my first choice thank you

Received an e-mail from the accommodation office saying I'm most likely to get my first choice because I have an unconditional offer. Thank goodness for that. :P

well you go there knowing it's quiet, because you want it to be quiet. so its not so much they are anti-social, its just they dont want to be going out much..

I was under the impression that undergrads were put with other undergrads and postgrads were with other postgrads.

I suspect that the majority of undergrads will want to go out, and if not then there's the people on your course and in other things that you do.

All of the people I've talked to who want to go there are not socially inept people.

It seems that the way the halls (on and off campus) are portrayed are being greatly exaggerated.

Yeh I'm sure undergrads are with other undergrads, and apparently all undergrads in prospect point next year will be first years. I'm sure if we go for freshers' week we should be fine.

Probably going to have to apply for Prospect point, vine court and opal court etc because I wanted D&R self-catering en-suite but its unlikely I'll get an offer. I'm just worried it won't be as sociable at the on campus halls especially because I like going out alot. Is anyone else applying for the on campus accomodation?

you get 3 option for a reason. if you want d&r then put it first. u probably wont get it, butu still might.

fml. i still have not applied for accom...
i have firmed a conditional offer but im 100% stuck on which accom to apply for... im leaning towards D&R right now. also, this sounds stupid and petty, but the travel between campus and accom is putting me off even going to Liverpool considering i have a 9-5 course pretty much everyday... urrrrrrrgh D:

edit: also, apparently my course is 45ish weeks and the only halls that have a longer contract are on campus ones, is anyone else in this situation?
