Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.
Blogs could be like the staff blog.... and then you just have a thread where you post links to new blog pieces.
Or we could make use of the wiki.

Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.A subforum of the football forum, maybe a sub-subforum, within which we could post blogs as seperate threads and comment upon them.(Original post by n1r4v)
What is the blog subform
Louis has an occasional rant, you would love the blog thread.
I am generally rant free, tbh
Kev on the other hand

Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.Cricket doesn't even have a forum does it(Original post by Louis.)
There's not a chance of it actually happening, btw. They wouldn't give one to Cricket so I can't see us getting one based on a currently non-existent thread.
Could always ask just to make JK's job harder

I notice the cricket society/thread every now and again and it has been on the same thread since I started here.
Cricket doesn't even warrant a thread unless the Ashes are on tbph. -
Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions. No, we asked for one and they said no(Original post by Mess.)

It gets loads of activity inside international tournaments and England or Pakistan test series (which imo are regular enough to warrant a seperate forum) but not too much outside. The domestic game is pretty much ignored by everyone.
I just don't see the harm in creating extra sub forums
Can't be server load because the VBookie one has been inactive for ages and hasn't been removed. -
Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.I couldn't really see the point in Cricket having one tbh. The whole Sport forum generates less in terms of posts per day than Football, and probably the Arsenal Soc alone, does.(Original post by Louis.)

I really would like some new, regular, decent posters in Football though as a lot of it these days is the same circular arguments over and over again

Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.
I love the blog idea, Mess. It worked very well for the WC and I can't see any reason why it wouldn't do so again. Not sure on how it'd best be implemented but it's good to see discussion about that, too.

The betting idea is great, too. The activity in the betting thread combined with the interest in here shows it's clearly in demand. It seems hardly anybody knows how the Vbookie thing works, I guess we could either take a proper look at that, or try to come up with another way of doing it? -
Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.
Louis wants every post in it's own subforum ffs, such crumble.
I don't think the blogs would necessarily need to be well written or even well informed. The state of each blog would be through it's comments, if noone cares then the thread will dry up never to be seen again whilst those which strike a chord will go down well and bring something fresh to the forum. I agree with the above that it's just the same arguments in here on a rotational basis so anything different to focus on, even if it was poorly written tosh, would be welcome. -

Do not try and refine my ideas into something coherent and useful ffs
Why do I even exist
Seek help.

Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions. This tbh. I see a decent rant with some insight everyday, if it's not posted in the blogs thread, someone else can just quote it in there. It doesn't even have to be a "blog", can just be a passing observation or an opinion. Doesn't matter if it's ill-informed, even if there is outrage, people would be secretly happy for the discussion and lulz.(Original post by Colbert)

Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.
I am blog heard roar

Niravs proposal is the sort of thing I was thinking of for a general thread and Louis' idea for the people who want specific blog sections
Although more thought could go into this if people get into it of course
It would have to have some sort of OP detailing that pretty much anything goes. It can be one sentence or 1000 words. Well written or a piece of trash. Opinion or truth. -
Re: Football forum changes. Have your say/add your suggestions.
I honestly think things like a football blog would die out sooner or later. I remember someone trying to start a journalism thread or something a while back and after a few weeks you never saw it again

Here it is actually: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/show....php?t=1056799 -

'Football journalism' comes across as quite serious in nature, whereas 'blogging' is more user friendly imo
I reckon it's worth a shot at least, and then if it fails it fails.
Noticed on that thread that Hubert Poo is still subbed

everyone bow down to my ideas
