Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?
I've really enjoyed the show so far. There's something that annoys me though, her accent...why's she trying to hide it? It's so obvious I don't know why they bothered with it.
As for her pupil, he seems a bit weird like when he said, "I'm in love with her" I could see something really bad happening. -
Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?Thanks
I must be deaf XD
The reason I think rape is because of the way she froze when the woman asked her if she's keep a child if she'd been raped. There's something dodgy going on between Martha and Billy, he seems very manipulative of her but she seems to blindly trust him. That's two cases now where she's been put to compete with the other person going for silk. And yeah, I was thinking that Billy had sex with Martha, not too sure about rape though. Another stonking episode, loving it.
He reminds me of Nick Grimshaw - I think a lot is because of his name, and Grimshaw was the first Nick that sprang to mind.(Original post by abc101)
Who is the boy pupil? He reminds me of someone. It's so weird seeing Natalie Dormer all blonded-out as the girl pupil! And she's like 30, doesn't really pass for a 21-year-old does she?!
Is she supposed to be 21? She came across as someone with quite a bit more experience than Nick, so the age gap's only a few years. I dunno
A barrister once came into my school to talk to us at a careers event, and she said she deliberately changed her accent to be taken seriously. Perhaps they are trying to convey that in the show?(Original post by Louzilla)

I'm more worried about the torture-burglar to be honest. Nick probably said that as an exaggeration of that he admired her, but I agree he is weirdAs for her pupil, he seems a bit weird like when he said, "I'm in love with her" I could see something really bad happening.

Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?Seriously? I can't believe that you need to change your accent to be taken seriously. Maybe they were, who knows.(Original post by Hopple)

It was the guy she got off wasn't it? -
Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?I suppose we'll find out if they've done it deliberately when they tell us about Martha's background. It could have been just that barrister's opinion that she needed to change her accent to fit in, but then at the very least, the world of law gives the perception to some newbies that speaking 'properly' can help them in their career.(Original post by Louzilla)

Yup, on the cop's fiddling with evidence and the victim's head. She even said so herself, that he was evil but he should have gone free. Then he returns the medal to try and win her affections in some weird way.It was the guy she got off wasn't it? -

Something else I dislike is how unrealistic it is, I doubt a barister would have that much notice for a case like that, saying that a real barristers life could be boring. xD
He keeps ringing her up as well, do you think he will try go to her house or something like that? -
Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?THE GOOD WIFE. Without a shadow of a doubt! I love that show and the drama between her and Will(Original post by Hamesh)
Which is better? The Good Wife or this?

Have you seen that sneaky little twit that's trying to frame our (since she's British) innocent Kalinda?

Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?I hope he doesn't success, Kalinda is great. I really want Will and Alicia to get together! Screw Peter, Will is so much better for her(Original post by Hamesh)

Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?I absolutely love The Good Wife! But I have been watching it for ages, it will take a while before Silk could live up to it in my mind... and I always struggle to compare British and American dramas - they always have such different styles!(Original post by Hamesh)

Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?I'm not sure the show was sufficiently accurate for us to critique the legal system solely on the basis of it!(Original post by barnetlad)
No, as I find it difficult to watch legal dramas. Possibly because I think our attitude and use of the legal process has become too much like the U.S.
I like how people are concerned about the cocaine, but no one thought that it was inappropriate for a trainee barrister to so blatantly steal the wig & gown! I'd be of the opinion that the latter (indicating dishonesty) was more of an ethics problem.

Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?Well, they've already told us about her pregnancy and abortion, they must tell us more about her now(Original post by Louzilla)
Do you think they will go into her background?
A case like what? The torture-burglary? I think if they showed her not caring too much, people would complain it was just another thing demonising lawyersSomething else I dislike is how unrealistic it is, I doubt a barister would have that much notice for a case like that, saying that a real barristers life could be boring. xD
Also, perhaps it is for Nick's sake that she's explaining more of her thinking than one would expect from someone at the daily grind.
At the end of this episode, when she got home, I thought he'd be in there to be honest XD He's been saved from prison by her, given her a gift and is waiting for her at work. Having somehow gotten her home phone number (so her home address shouldn't be too difficult, as he knows her name and employer - or he could just follow her home one day), the next step is for him to pay her a visit - being a burglar he certainly has no qualms about letting himself in.He keeps ringing her up as well, do you think he will try go to her house or something like that?
He's poor and did it for the lulz(Original post by recorta)

Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?I think it's his baby, but I'm not sure about the rape thing, he does seem to be able to manipulate her but not to the extent where he can rape her and she'll let him get away with it...(Original post by Hopple)
I'm guessing Billy (grey) raped Martha and got her pregnant?
It is kind of scary how that burglar seems obsessed with her for getting him off (er, not like that...), I wonder if that ever happens in real life... -
Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?That's why I put grey rape, I think she may feel partially responsible or something, so doesn't think he deserves to go away for the crime.(Original post by gingerrama)

I shouldn't think so. Some nitwit's given him her home phone number, which is ridiculous. That or she left her number in the phone directory, which is easily avoidable. It is kind of scary how that burglar seems obsessed with her for getting him off (er, not like that...), I wonder if that ever happens in real life...
Go watch it(Original post by laura_*)
I only saw this weeks and also though that the pregnancy was due to rape...but like I said, didn't see last weeks. What happened last week that would indicate how she became pregnant?
Nothing really said how she got pregnant though. They'll probably tell us since they've already told us she is pregnant. -
Re: Silk - New series. Anybody watch it?Ah, I thought you were saying that Grey was Billy's surname(Original post by Hopple)
