    Re: Footballing rivalries...
    Marseille - PSG
    St Etienne- Lyon
    Schalke- Dortmund
    Fenerbache- Galatasary/ Besiktas
    Roma- Lazio
    Belgrade Derby
    Boca- River
    Independiente- Racing
    Ajax- Feyenoord
    Olympiakos- Panathanaikos
    Al Ahly- Zamalek
    CSKA- Spartak

Most overrated is probably Barcelona- Real, while the standard of football is brilliant, there is no real hatred between the fans.

    Fenerbahce vs Galatasaray (In Turkey)

    Al-Ahly Vs Zamalek (In Egypt)

I've personally seen the second one, arguably the two best club teams in Africa, considered by FIFA as one of the worst derbies in the world and is watched in many countries. Doesn't get much coverage here obviously.

I also nearly forgot Arsenal Vs Sp*rs :pierre:

Lol at some of the ones being mentioned. As Neil Lennon said the other day, the old firm is too often these days. Still obviously massive hatred but they play every other week nearly.
Got to be one of the ones in Eastern Europe or the River plate one. Never heard of the one in Egypt tbh. People saying WBA Wolves and Arsenal Spurs etc are just funny. Only English one I can think of is Milwall West Ham thats really dodgy. English fans are policed too much to have mental derbies

    Glentoran v Linfield.....
It's basically Bangor vs Ards with a few more people at it.

Now exactly an important rivalry in the scheme of things.

Are you saying Celtic have no history?

It's still an intense rivalry, doesn't matter if it's not important to you in 'the scheme of things', tbh. Rivalry is defined by the fans of the teams in question, not fans outside of that.

Been enjoying the recent history yes. Winning stuff fairly regularly and enjoying Strachan, Tony the 3rd and now wee Neil getting the rage on. It's going to be sweet.

They have a history of being 2nd best and that's fine with me.

Not that intense. More intense when they both go to Solitude.

2nd is the huns forte, surely?

    1. If the Glasgow Rangers ever win the Coronation Cup - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    2. If they ever beat their most bitter rivals 7-1 in a major domestic cup final - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    3. If they ever reach the European Cup Semi-Final 4 times - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    4. If they ever win every competition they enter in one season - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    5. If they ever reach the European Cup Final - - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    6. If they ever reach the European Cup Final with eleven home bred Scots - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    7. If they ever reach the European Cup Final twice - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    8. If they ever WIN the European Cup - they will be the 2nd Scottish club ever to do so.
    9. Having won 9-in-a-row - it must be a great feeling to know that for the NINTH TIME IN A ROW - you are and always will be
    2nd
