CAE Certificate in Advanced English - University of Aberdeen requirements

Hello everyone
I've got a question. I'm from Poland and I've decided to study in Scotland. I've applied to Aberdeen Uni (Marine and Coastal Resource Management) and RGU (Offshore Engineering) and I've already received a conditional offer from Aberdeen. According to English Language Requirements I should have passed IELTS or TOEFL exam. However I have passed CAE examination with grade C last July.

Before I applied, I have written an e-mail to Aberdeen Uni to ask whether my CAE exam is enough and they responded me that they need at minimum grade B, so I have to take another examination such as IELTS or TOEFL. As you all know such examination costs quite a lot and it's a little problem for me.

However, in the conditional offer they did not said that I should sit another exam, they only precised that I have to pass my Matura exams (something like GCSE) on specified level.

So what's your opinion, shall I ask them whether I should take this exam or maybe they will accept my application if I meet with the conditions?
If their requirements include TOEFL/IELTS, and you haven't sat that, then you haven't met their requirements and need to sit it.

OK, thanks. But maybe there were some cases when someone with lower grade, than it is required has been accepted?

They've already advised you that they'll accept the alternative you've offered them, BUT at a higher grade. This should tell you that they won't accept a lower one.

If I were you, since you are going to have to resit, I would pick one of the tests they have actually specified. It may be expensive, but so is coming to the UK to study what sounds like a highly specialist programme. Only you can decide how much you are prepared to invest to ensure you meet your offer conditions.

Thank you for the reply. Then, I will definitely sit the IELTS exam during the summer holidays.
