Sheffield vs. Liverpool

Hey,
I have recieved identical offers from both Sheffield and Liverpool university. I have been to the open days and I like the look of both. I was wondering if you guys had information or opinions on which one might better, like which has a better repuatation etc. The course is Meng in Mechanical engineering.

By ranking, Sheffield is quite a bit better. I'm from Sheffield and love the city; the accommodation's also in a lovely area. I've applied to Liverpool but would recommend Sheffield to you, even if it is a slightly biased opinion.

I was totally set on Sheffield until I went to the Liverpool Applicant day last week. They have totally redeveloped all the engineering facilities and they are now of a very high standard. It's going to be a tough choice!

Can't comment on the engineering side of things, but Liverpool as a city and as a uni is great (well I had a great time). Everyone is really friendly and has a good night life. University is located like a 5 minute walk from town.

Personally I didn't like Sheffield when I went to visit (was too gloomy IMO), but obv that's just my own personal opinion.

Ultimately the choice has to be yours. Perhaps look at what the course offers (like modules and stuff) and see which ones most appeal (that's what I did when I was deciding between Liverpool and Bham).

I would say consider everything about the uni, not just league tables (which can be a bit blergh anyway). Can you see yourself living there?
