Re: The Cricket Society IIAHAHA most of them are absolutely terrible- the dances are so bad they basically ARE epileptic fits. The worse one I've ever seen is a pakistani version of Munnabhai(Original post by haleem)

Re: The Cricket Society III think when it comes to India, they do seem to (especially in the big games against Pakistan, in WC's) override this nationalistic passion, and just be abit more mentally strong and hence they end up beating us. Whereas, as shown in 1996 in Bangalore, Pakistan get abit too involved and end up losing and as Imran Khan said, game has to be played in the right spirit. But what I've been most impressed with Pakistan and why I'm giving them more of a chance to win, is that throughout this tournament, they've been efficient, professional and abit calculating. Three words I'd never put on a Pakistan team. And having been led well by Afridi, Waqar and Intikhab Alam, I just think they do have a tremendous chance of getting a result. If they overcome India, then they'll go all the way because having overcome the team who odds on faves to go all the way, I think they'll have that extra 10% over Sri Lanka (who I expect to beat NZ) as the latter team will probably have won comfortably and could be caught complacency napping.(Original post by Inzamam99)
Great article mate, very well written although I suppose a better argument may be that the teams avoid being engulfed by nationalistic fervour- to a certain extent it may act a positive force. -

Re: The Cricket Society III see where you're going especially when we taking into account Aamer Sohail completely losing his head against Prasad in 1996. Yeah I'am extremely surprised and pleased at the ruthlessness and professionalism Pakistan has shown- imagine if they has had that 1992-2002 with the likes of Waqar, Inzi, Muhammad Yousuf, Wasim etc. Their talent combined with efficiency(Original post by Aky786UK)

Re: The Cricket Society IINo problemo(Original post by Inzamam99)
Thank you for the explanation beta
I've always had a pretty negative view of the Indian media- way too conspiratorial and overdramatic- a bit like those crappy little dramas on Star Plus.

Not really, I would say barring three channels which are like run managed and doggied by imbeciles, they are a fair bunch. The manner in which they reported and discussed and stuff during the CWG games, many of the other journalists said that they can't even think of spreading so much negativity about their own country..
But since you mentioned them being conspiratorial, 3 recent events come to my mind:
-The SL players were attacked by RAW
-Indian Army caused the floods in Pakistan
-The Veena Malik scandal was masterminded by India to defame pakistan and I can go on...
Fact is, nobody really cares about Pakistan here as much as the media focuses or highlights them.
I dunno why but some sort of negativity always remains inspite of talks of so much of friendship and everything..
The year 2004 was the best, all this hatred and ****..we are the ones losing up in the end..
/rant
Lets stick to Cricket
In other news, the taxi drivers in Mumbai have decided to take the day off tomorrow, I wonder if its going to be a National Holiday
