Re: The Cricket Society IIHardly pathetic, wasn't convincing, but pathetic is harsh.(Original post by facetious)
They need to get it together, their fielding was rubbish against England, and today their batting was pathetic against Ireland. -
Re: The Cricket Society IIIt was pathetic by the Indian team standards, IMO.(Original post by Karma Charger)
Hardly pathetic, wasn't convincing, but pathetic is harsh. -
Re: The Cricket Society IIA missed opportunity to gain points over the other players? Points are points after all, regardless of who earns them...(Original post by Liam 09)
First match of the world cup where I have no players from either team. This game means just about nothing to me now haha. -
Re: The Cricket Society III get what you're saying, and I largely agree - bowlers are increasingly under-appreciated in todays game. But on a pitch that made every bowler look amazing and pretty much every batsman failed, Bopara's score was the crucial difference between the two teams.(Original post by Glutamic Acid)
It just seems a little unfair that in a high scoring match a batsman inevitably wins MotM, yet often they still win it(*).
(*) is what it feels like, though that stats suggest I'm being silly. Of 10 group A games, 5 out of 10 have MotM awards have been won for bowling performances, contrasted with 8.5/11 in group B (Yuvraj's being an all-round performance). Giving an overall proportion 13.5/21, which is probably about right considering teams play more batsmen.
The ICC have been all over the place w.r.t. world cups, 9 teams played in 1992, growing to 16 in 2007, and it will be shrunk to 10. I don't really see why a middle ground of 12 isn't ok: the associates have a good chance of qualifying, yet there should be few 'duff' games (especially if we are to take it that Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are both improving sides). -
Re: The Cricket Society II
Ngoche to Gunasekera, 1 wide, OUT, This is Bizarroworld. Ruvindu might be out stumped. Shambles from Ruvindu. Shambles from Ouma. Shambles all round. Stupidity, says Ian Chappell. It slips down the leg side. Ruvindu misses the flick. And looks back. He can't see the ball. He thinks it has trickled away to fine leg. Ouma, cunningly, hid the ball in his left glove. Once Ruvindu strayed out of the crease, Ouma looked to flick the bails off. And missed! He then flicked again. This time he hits the stumps. Ruvindu is still not in! Haven't seen something so bizarre from a batsmen since Inzamam tumbled onto his stumps, attempting to sweep Panesar.

Only Inzy would do that -
Re: The Cricket Society III had a feeling it would be a low scoring game obviously, and I've only got 10 transfers left, so this was pretty low on my priority list.(Original post by Captain Crash)
A missed opportunity to gain points over the other players? Points are points after all, regardless of who earns them... -
Re: The Cricket Society III can appreciate that - my thoughts exactly(Original post by Liam 09)

That said, the guy below me in the league picked two canada players who earned ~300 points this match and leapfrogged me

Re: The Cricket Society IIKemar Roach is like the only threat from the windies attack, hes a epic fast bowler but what he lacks is a bowling partner at the other end.(Original post by DonFahad)
Finishing fourth could mean taking on Kemar Roach or Kevin O'Brien, so its not all easy going even if we do finish top (which will be difficult, seeing as we'll have to win all of our games - now that Sri Lanka are out the way, I doubt Australia will lose to anyone except us). Sri Lanka are messed up now, their escape route after losing to us was to beat Australia, but it got abandoned, so they are most likely confined to third place, meaning a battle against the second placed team in the other group.
As for K Obrien its always difficult to emulate a hard workman like innings like he did for a 2nd time . And teams would have noted the weaknesses which england made against him.Last edited by Z_Ahmed; 07-03-2011 at 18:04. -
Re: The Cricket Society II
Morgan
Although, I'm cautious about getting my hopes up because his form in the ODI series in Australia was nothing special tbh
Prior better not open with Strauss
It was a complete disaster when they tried it out in Australia! Bell's the much better option, but I'm not sure where his ODI form has disappeared to either...
