mackinder is like 90% international and second years, there are only 2 fresher blocks
(feel free to add me on facebook if you want to be a bit nosey, i know i wanted to be last year)
Ask away, i really really dont mind
Also for me making friends was SO easy for a few reasons
1) I had made myself known via facebook (yes that sounds really nerdy but im not)
2) During freshers i talked to EVERYONE
3) I joined a lot of societys
but the first one is how i met a good 50 friends, basically me and another girl on here set up a facebook group and from then on I talked to people about general uni stuff for a few months when i got to uni i met them all. Had a relationship with one of them and am best friends with a few others -
Re: University of Reading FIRMERS?!!!!!Yeah i dont mind, give me your facebook name?(Original post by Girlproblems)

Re: University of Reading FIRMERS?!!!!!I live about an hour and a half away from Reading, in the South West - just behind Longleat Safari Park and Center Parcs in a really quiet little hamlet. What about you?(Original post by fagher)
I want a self-catered room, so Im more into St George's and Sherfield hall, but St pat's look's great! What part in England you coming from?
Does anyone else think we should start a Facebook group then? My Facebook is gathering dust somewhere in a small, uninhabited corner of the internet at the moment but I'd be willing to dig it out and set up a group with someone... -
Re: University of Reading FIRMERS?!!!!!Do it, ours had about 10-20 members for about 3 months then exploded and got 400+ members you honestly wont regret it(Original post by KT9)

Re: University of Reading FIRMERS?!!!!!
I may give in and get facebook set up when I finish college after securing a place at Reading. Haven't bothered with that sort of thing since I let my Myspace go a number of years ago.
Just got fed up with people, I didn't want to chat with online, constantly asking me to get it so they could check up on me. I prefer to get to know people face to face, get their number, and go out and socialise that way, but I guess times change. I think what really annoyed me most was that whenever there was a house party a group would always wander off and huddle around the computer updating their profiles. I could never get my head around that. We're out enjoying ourselves and having a laugh, but some may as well have stayed at home...
If there's a way of not accepting / making me invisible to certain people, without them knowing that I am going out of my way to avoid them, then i'll give facebook a go... -
Re: University of Reading FIRMERS?!!!!!Your post made me smile, you have exactly the same reservations I had. (Although I was on Bebo, not myspace, which is infinitely less cool.)(Original post by Cyclo)

I hardly ever use my Facebook, and as such none of my friends take offence if I ignore their messages or never get around to accepting friend invitations! I tend to use it as a way of finding people and, well, groups like the one proposed here. You can set yourself to appear offline so that people aren't hassling you on chat, though if you do want to chat with someone then everyone will see that you're online and jump at you.
I'd say it's worth having one. There's no need to get sucked in or spend less time getting to know someone in person. That said, you will lose your 'too cool for Facebook' status
I do miss that...
fagher, I have no idea how to set up a group, I assume it's pretty self explanatory though. Shall we go ahead and make one?Last edited by KT9; 25-03-2012 at 19:35. -

I felt like a already had best friends, i am still very very close with many of them
Had a relationship with one them
Thge good thing about it is that say you meet 20 people off facebook and get to know them, those 20 people might have like 6 flat mates, you then meet all their flat mates etc etc
DO IT
plus its good motivation
And im SO happy and settled been at home 2 days now and miss my friends like crazyy -
