Hi everyone! I have to move back home for next term so I have an ensuite room available on Avery hill campus if you're looking to live in halls. Please let me know! The room is available asap.

So, now that we've got to the end of our first year (bar horrible exams), how's your year been?

'S been alright, not what I expected it to be like at all though. If only I had known that Avery has all the good stuff...

    How about yours?

Greenwich doesn't feel at all like a typical uni... But it's been good, haven't dropped out or anything!

Medway has a pretty dead typical uni atmosphere, I guess because it isn't in a big city or anything.

It almost feels like college part 2.

Greenwich has a similar atmosphere, don't worry. Although we are closer to the City, however it doesn't seem to make much difference. I was outside in the McMillan courtyard with a J on friday night and it was SILENT. That's wrong for a friday.

Don't you think Greenwich is a bit "dull" when it comes to socialising and clubs, societies etc.?!?!
Someone told me that they had Rowing Club, but it turns out that they have a rowing club that is next to uni, but has no relation to it.

Anywho, Who wants to do some Rowing ?!

P.S. I wanted to do Italian as an extra course , but they told me I have to pay for it ... ?! duh?

I really really want to do Rowing! I actually emailed them about this whilst also giving some input on the new building the Uni has purchased. They said if I can garner support and talk to the guys in the pre-existing rowing clubs about maybe using it when they're not (and find a coach or instructor) then they'd think about it next September.

But I'm really up for getting a rowing club going.

Curew rowing club is just the opposite of Greenwich Qeen Ann. Maybe we could join that club and row together in a boat but I dont think we could for a university club. And having a rowing boat house is not cheap at all, those boats cost a fortune. I'm not sure that univercity will go for that kind of investment.

Although I've heard of "Greenwich rowing team" and I think they competed somewhere 3-4 years ago.

    from the website:
    "Curlew Rowing Club

This is a well-established rowing club linked to the university's boat club. Its new boathouse is adjacent to the campus."
I've asked few times from the Student Union and they said that they dont have rowing facilities.
We should go to Curlew RC. Pay the membership fees and then if we can get enough people to form a team, train together as a Uni team with a coach from Curlew.

Usually Rowing Club fees are taken for a year ahead , somewhere between £150-300 and there should be a student discount too.

After passing (hopefully) all the exams I'll find out more about it.

I've given curlew a ring before and they didn't pick up, done it a couple of times actually. They don't reply to emails either. But if you get in contact with them let me know!
The Uni said we would use their (the club's) facilities and equipment if we started a Uni rowing club here, we would just pay them a certain amount for it.

Medway is way too far, yeah. Avery has a lot of good stuff too, but that's also far. Eskrima looks awesome.

Acutally now I remember, I also called and emailed them. With no success, but when I went down there it was locked with 2 school boys sitting in front of the door. They told me it openes at about 7pm.
