Ad Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc - BOOM
and i thought "The West Wing" had slipped from public consciousness. Unless you weren't referring to that in which case why does no one remember the west wing it was so good, well while rob lowe was in it they never really showed him leaving it was obvious why but they could have done something more

No women wear make-up to enhance their features sometimes... or just because make-up is something they enjoy?
Make-up is fine... apart from the 'raccoon eye look'... like eyeliner is fine, but not when you put it like 2cms thick all round & also the caked on make up... not good :/

Most women are absolutely covered in makeup. In my view this must mean that women are ugly. Why else would they use makeup, unless they were covering up their ugliness? Someone post a picture of a women with makeup and without to prove my point.
    no women are ugly

women who wear make up either:
    think theyre ugly
or like to pretend they think their ugly to get attention

No they are not, except perhaps for a few (Victoria Beckham and the Duchess of Cornwall came to mind).

Lack of confidence or fashion is to blame. I'd like a 'no make-up day' as a charity fundraiser.

Women aren't ugly because they wear make-up... I must admit some of us women do got OTT on the application front, and they do say less is more, but for some make-up is a mask for them to hide behind or to make them feel confident or just because they like it....
It's useless just to make the statement women are ugly cos they wear make-up, there's more than just aesthetic values at play here...

Funny how this comment was made on International Woman's Day.. Coincidence or no??

Wasn't referencing the West Wing per se - but, nevertheless it was such a good show - best episode was "Two Cathedrals" - Bartlett ranting at God in latin - Sorkin et al at their best!

What is wrong with you, on a serious note there was no need for that. But I forget I will come across people like yourself on TSR:/

    Re: are women ugly?
okay, so the primary argument is that women are ugly just because they wear make-up? like, say what? what a reasonable observation =.=

Women wear make-up to enhance their beauty, although different women have different reasons for wearing makeup. Me for example, I don't use makeup much because it can mess up my skin. But I WILL wear it if I'm going to to a meeting or a wedding or on a date. It isn't much about beauty for me (except when a boy can see me), it's more about looking professional, or at the least, acceptable. Imagine going to a wedding with your skin looking like a zombie's and huge bags under your eyes. It's not only embarrassing to yourself, but also unbearable to those who see you. You have to make yourself look presentable.

But I hate it when a woman puts on TOO much makeup. I particularly dislike, when used on a daily basis, eyeshadow, raccoon eyes, and 2-cm think lipgloss. it's simply UGHH. *Some* women should be more comfortable with their natural looks. SOME meaning those who consciously or semi-consciously think makeup IS beauty, rather than an enhancer.

Most women I know aren't "covered" in make-up. Humans have been wearing make-up since the beginning of time, to put like that. It doesn't make you "ugly."

    So basically, your argument is:

People who use make-up are ugly. All women use make-up. All women are therefore ugly.

    Wow. Just wow.
That's the kind of argument we used to laugh at and then dismantle in Critical Thinking hahaha.

    Pointless subject.
