    Data/Internet with Orange
Hey, I'm currently living in Spain but back in the UK for a few days later this week. I have a BlackBerry which I use in Spain, and I'm on Orange in the UK.

My question is, when I am back in the UK, will everything on my BlackBerry work as normal if I get one of their daily extras for the internet and data, or will it not work as I won't have the BlackBerry Service activated?

I mainly want to use apps like Whatsapp or Facebook, probably BBM as well, but I guess that won't be possible.

Please let me know if you can, thanks!

    Hi sergioib

If you are using an Orange UK SIM card in the phone, then you should be able to make use of apps that use a normal data connection, but you would be unable to use Blackberry push email or BBM without adding the Blackberry service to your account. This can be added to your account for £5.00 per month by calling Customer Services.

    I hope this helps.

Hey Orange Helpers, thank you so much for your help. So, do you think I could use Whatsapp without any problem, and it's just emails and BBM that I won't be able to use, isn't it?

    Thank you!

    Hi sergioib

I'm not familier with Whatsapp myself, but as long as it does not require the Blackberry Internet Service to work, then you should be fine.

One potential issue to keep in mind, is that the data settings on your phone may be set to those of your Spanish provider. When you use your Orange UK SIM card, you might need to contact our Customer Service Helpdesk to have the relevant settings sent to your phone before you can get online.

    I'm glad I could help!

That's wicked, thank you! Is there any way I could get those settings sent to my phone via the internet so that I don't have to call Orange as soon as I get to the UK? Maybe through their website!

    Thanks!

    Hi sergioib

I've since found out that these settings cannot be sent over the air to a Blackberry device. You would need to enter the orangeinternet APN settings manually into the phone, which may then allow some third party apps to access the Internet without the Blackberry Internet Service.

Although we're happy to help if we can, this is not something we actively support, as we have no information on third party applications. From searching on the Internet, I have been able to find several independent sites offering advice on connecting to the Internet on a Blackberry without the Blackberry Internet Service. This might be your best source of information.

Although this wasn't as straightforward as I first thought, I hope this still helps.

I've got the Orange APN settings on my phone if you need them.
